Check out the 7th annual Guitar Strings vs Chicken Wings – Squaw Valley – 2018 today, Friday, September 7, 2018!

If you love chicken wings and live music  you will enjoy being at the Village at Squaw Valley as six (6) restaurants and six (6) bands will face-out in this fun annual competition of sound versus taste!

If you’ll be in the North Lake Tahoe area today, or early this evening, check out this fun event that will benefit the Tahoe Institute for Natural Science.

Six bands will battle for a $500 cash prize and the six restaurants will fight for the title and trophy of best Wings.

The Bands that are in the competition tonight:

  • Jeff Jones Band
  • Voodoo Dogs
  • Truth Cartel
  • Purple Curtain
  • Tim High and The Mighty
  • Burning Nylon

The bands will be playing twice during the evening with music from 4:30. to 8:30 p.m.  Each band will play in front of a different restaurant that are in the battle for best wings.  The restaurants are:

  • Auld Dubliner
  • Fireside Pizza
  • Rocker@Squaw
  • Twenty Two Bistro
  • Suko Yama Sushi
  • Granite Bistro

It’s time to celebrate the beginning of fall with the Guitar Strings vs Chicken Wings  competition in Squaw Valley this evening Friday, September  7, 2018.

Lake Tahoe and Squaw Valley  continues to offer fun activities for everyone to enjoy and our fall season is one of the best times to be in our area.

Our weather has cooled down and our early evening will be in the low 70’s dropping into the low 40’s.  I would dress in layers and I’d wear a sweater, sweatshirt, or a light jacket so you’ll be comfortable in the cooler weather this evening in Squaw Valley.

Guitar Strings vs Chicken Wings - Squaw Valley - 2018Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and there are a variety of drink and wing packages, along with voting tokens.

The event begins at 5 p.m. and goes until 8:30 p.m. at the Village at Squaw Valley.

Four (4) wings will be sold for $5, and there will be drink specials at each featured restaurant/pub.

Proceeds go to the Tahoe Institute for Natural Science, which is a non-profit group that is trying to educate the understanding of the natural history of the Lake Tahoe region.  Last year this event raised almost $5,000 for the Tahoe Institute for Natural Science.

What a great way to support a wonderful group and make a fun evening out of the donation!

  • Guitar Strings vs Chicken Wings – Squaw Valley – 2018
  • When: Friday, September 7, 2018, 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.     
  • Where:  The Village at Squaw Valley, 1920 Squaw Valley Road, Olympic Valley, CA 96146
  • Cost:  
    • $20 Two orders of wings (8), 1 drink ticket and 5 voting tokens (good for one person)
    • $40 Four orders of wings (16), 2 drink tickets, and 10 voting tokens (good for two people)
    • $80 Eight orders of wings (32), 4 drink tickets, and 20 voting tokens (good for four people)
    • $5 Additional 5 voting tokens
    • $5 Additional Order of Wings (4)
    • $7 Additional 1 drink tickets (good for beer, wine, cocktail, or non-alcoholic beverages) 

September in the North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area is a wonderful time of year to be here.
