Oktoberfest – Squaw Valley – Saturday, Sept 26, 2015
North Lake Tahoe does a great job in hosting so many special festivals, fairs, and events during our summer months that it’s always hard to see our summer season come to an end, but it looks like area organizers are extending the season with more festivals and events that will carry you to the first snow fall.
This Saturday, you’ll want to check out the Village at Squaw Valley for Oktoberfest 2015 as it turns itself into a mini Bavaria with live music (Joe Smiell and this twenty (20) piece Bavarian Band and the Alpentanz Kapelle Band), authentic food (can anyone say bratwurst?), German brews, and fun games for all ages to enjoy!
Let’s talk games! There will be a stein-holding competition, keg rolling race, and a bratwurst toss. Yes, I have to say it’s the dreaded wiener toss. So I’m five years old giggling about saying wiener toss, but you have to admit it, grown people tossing wieners in the air is pretty funny.
The Village at Squaw Valley will be featuring a German theme through-out the Village and you’ll find German bratwurst with sauerkraut and other traditional foods.
The Truckee Sourdough Company will be serving just baked pretzels, and for those that enjoy German beer, your first beer will be $10 and comes with a commemorative beer glass, and all other beers will be $5 with your glass (must be 21+ for beer), and for those younger in age, check out the root beer float station!
Love to dance and sing along? Then you’ll enjoy the live music, where you’ll get a chance to be part of the action. Feel like dressing up? You’re encouraged to wear traditional lederhosen and dirndls, but not required!
We’re expecting sunny skies and our day time temperatures should be in the mid-70’s. All you have to do is show up and soak it all in, but just in case bring along a light jacket, or sweatshirt – tis the season to dress in layers!
If you’ll be in the North Lake Tahoe area this weekend check out this fun fall event. I know that after I’m done showing properties on Saturday, Craig and I are headed out to Squaw Valley to enjoy our late summer weather.
