Oktoberfest – Squaw Valley – Sept 23 2017
It’s Fall here in North Lake Tahoe and it’s time for the annual Oktoberfest event at the Village at Squaw Valley this Saturday, Sept 23, 2017 from noon to 6 p.m. Come out and celebrate the changing of our seasons and have some fun!
It’s hard to believe it’s the end of September and we had so much fun this year with our local festivals, street fairs and events Oktoberfest is just one more fun way to enjoy your day here in the greater North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area.
This Saturday, you’ll want to check out the Village at Squaw Valley for Oktoberfest 2017 . The Village turns itself into a mini Bavarian themed event with live music, authentic food (can anyone say bratwurst?), German brews, and fun games for all ages to enjoy! Admission is free to the event, but the cost for food and beverages will vary depending on your selection.
In the past all beer sale proceeds have gone to the High Sierra Lacrosse Foundation, so you’ll be having fun while helping out a great local group!
Let’s talk games! There will be a keg rolling race, a Brat Toss Yes, it’s ever popular wiener toss! I saw this event last year and you get one chance to toss your brat onto the top of a keg.
It’s not as easy as it looks, but so much fun to watch contestants try!
Last but not least, will be the Stein Holding Competition.
The Village at Squaw Valley will be featuring a German theme through-out the Village and you’ll find German bratwurst with sauerkraut and other traditional foods.
To get you in the mood there will be live Bavarian music played featuring Joe Smiell and his 20 piece Bavarian Band and I can tell you they are awesome!
Festival goers that are 21+ and want to enjoy a great German beer can purchase a mug and two beers for $20 that will come in a commemorative beer glass/mug, and all other beers will be $5 with your glass.
For those younger in age, check out the root beer float station! I hope this returns, it was yummy!
I can tell you from past experiences, Craig has really enjoyed the brats, and for me the over-sized pretzels with special mustards, along with and ice cold German Beer have all been delicious.
Later in the afternoon we’ve hit the Root Beer Float version and that was a sweet way to end our festival day. Everything was really good and we hope to do it again this year!
If you love to dance and sing along then you’ll enjoy the live music, where you’ll get a chance to be part of the action. Feel like dressing up? You’re encouraged to wear traditional lederhosen and dirndls, but it’s not required!
We’re expecting blue skies, with clouds later in the afternoon, however are day time temperatures will only be in the low 50’s so wear a jacket and dress in layers.
If you’ll be in the North Lake Tahoe area this weekend check out this fun fall event. I know that after I’m done showing properties on Saturday, Craig and I are headed out to Squaw Valley to enjoy our late summer weather and some great German beer.
