Condos for Sale in Tahoe City – West Shore 2016
Finding condos for sale in Tahoe City – West Shore is much easier than in some of our other West Shore communities like Homewood, or Tahoma, where they only have two, or three condominium developments.
The Tahoe City area has one of the largest options for condo buyers because Tahoe City is located on both the West Shore and North Shore areas of Lake Tahoe.
On the Tahoe City – West Shore area there are three (3) lakefront developments and one (1) mountain-side developments. On the Tahoe City – West Shore area here are approximately 306 units.

In addition to the Tahoe City – West Shore condos, there are also twelve (12) condo developments located in the Tahoe City – North Shore area, which add an additional +/- 923 condo units into the mix. The total number of condominium/townhouse developments in the Tahoe City area is fifteen (15) with over 1,200 individual condos built in the area.
The four (4) Tahoe City – West Shore condo developments are all located less than two (2) miles of the “Y” (stop light) making them all very close to restaurants, stores, the Tahoe City golf course, which also doubles as a cross country and ice skating facility in the winter, along with being just a few miles from the Alpine, Squaw, or Homewood Ski Resorts.
What is my Tahoe City Condo Worth?
The inventory of condos for sale on the Tahoe City – West Shore side is always limited. Just looking at the number of condos built for the West Shore at just over 300 units (not including the small 2, or 4 plex condo developments in Talmont, Tahoe Woods, or Cathedral neighborhoods) compared to over 900 condos built on the Tahoe City – North Shore, it’s no surprise that the number of available units to select from is always going to be less than what may be available on the Tahoe City – North Shore area.
Tahoe City – West Shore Condos for sale as of 09-28- 2016 there were only thirteen (13) condos for sale:
- 4 condos for sale in Tavern Shores price range: $640,000 to $1,230,000
- 8 condos for sale in Tahoe Tavern price range: $499,000 to $3.1 million
- 1 condos for sale in Cedar Point price range: $2.149 million
- 0 condos for sale in Granlibakken: None Available
Buyers may have to wait and be patient if they want to get into a specific condo development, or location within that development given the limited available inventory.

Tahoe City, California is located in at the junction of Hwy 89S and Hwy 28 and it has the only natural outlet for Lake Tahoe, which is the beginning of the Truckee River.
Tahoe City is located on both the West Shore of Lake Tahoe and the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, giving condo and home owners a variety of settings to consider when looking to buy a property in the Lake Tahoe area.
Tahoe City has a charming Swiss Mountain Village theme to it. The Tahoe City downtown area is a nice commercial core area that has restaurants, shops, a 9-hole golf course, a public beach area known as Commons Beach, along with other services residents and visitors will need.
Like the Tahoe City condo market, you’ll typically find a good selection of Tahoe City mountain homes, cabins, and lakefront properties for sale at anyone given time due to the larger development that this area that this portion of Lake Tahoe experienced.
Tahoe City (not incorporated) is more than 100 years old, and like other communities in the area, the Tahoe City community is a well-known landmark and since the late 1800’s it has been a popular vacation/second home market.
Tahoe City is in a great location for those that want to boat, ski, hike, bike, climb rocks, play tennis, golf, enjoy a concert, movie, or just kick-back and relax. Tahoe City is easily accessed all year-long and is a nice mix of full-time residents and second home owners.

If you extend your condos search to the North Shore of Tahoe City, you’ll have more condos to choose from including Chinquapin, Tahoe Marina Lodge, Rocky Ridge, Star Harbor, the St Francis, The Northshore, The Villas, Dollar Hill II, Dollar Hill I and the Lake Forest Glen condo development (not included on the list are condo groups of less than 10 units).
