Summer Movies on the Beach Tahoe City 2018 Schedule If you’ll be in the greater North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area on any Wednesday between June 27 through August 22, 2018, you’ll want to want to experience one of the free summer movies on the beach in Downtown Tahoe City, California.

If you were a fan of the idea of the outdoor drive-in movies (yes, I know I’ve just dated myself), or you wish you could have had that experience growing up, the outdoor summer movie series at Commons Beach can give you a similar experience and something far more enjoyable.

It is hard to put into words how of just how pleasing it is to be outside and watching the Alpenglow cover Lake Tahoe at dusk and how it will make you feel.

There is a certain child-like magic that you will feel as you watch the lake turn a golden pink and purple, followed by seeing a movie on the water’s edge of Lake Tahoe once it is dark enough for the movie to start.

If you haven’t been to an outdoor movie recently, or one set on the beach in Lake Tahoe, put this one your summer list of things to do.

Wednesday night movies in Tahoe City are a free (I’m reading that they are asking for a $1 donation per person – looks voluntary – just an FYI), fun thing to do during the summer in greater North Lake Tahoe area!

The Tahoe City movies will begin at dusk on the beach and all movies will be at Commons Beach in downtown Tahoe City this year. All of the movies are either PG or PG-13 and if you want a sweet treat Cheri’s Hand-Dipped Ice cream will be on site. The fun starts at 7 p.m. with the movie starting at dusk.

Here are some Suggested Movie Going Tips. Movie Attendees are encouraged to bring the following:

Chairs Only low back chairs are allowed. However, if you bring a high back chair (yes, not everyone can physically get up and down into a low-backed beach chair) you will have to sit on the side, or in the back of the viewing area.
Bring sleeping bags/beach towels (small plastic tarp to put under them) if you’ll be on the ground. Remember the ground most likely will be damp, so make sure you have the right things to put down on the ground for an enjoyable evening.
Bring blankets and jackets (our summer evening and nights will become cool and if a breeze comes up off the lake things will really cool down fast).
The fun starts around 7 p.m. If you arrive early you can watch them set up the movie screen, and if you’re young enough you can participate in the games they will have before the movie starts. You’ll get some people watching time in along with seeing the incredible Alpenglow over Lake Tahoe!
Snacks You are allowed to bring your own snacks, so if you’re on a diet, you can still stay on track and enjoy the movie, or if you want a more gourmet experience load up you picnic basket, but it’s also nice to support the local vendors so you have some options.
Movies begin at dusk.
Bring a flashlight so you can make sure you’ve packed everything up and have a easy to walk back to your car with light when the movie is over.

Come out and enjoy a beautiful summer evening in Tahoe City out underneath the stars and watch a free movie on the beaches of Lake Tahoe this year!
