Time Change – Fall Back Sunday November 6 2016
Did you remember that tonight is the time change – Fall Back Sunday, November 6, 2016?
It’s hard to believe that once again we need to change out clocks. So before you go to bed, you’ll need to remember to change your clocks, and set them back one hour!
The old saying is still true, Spring Forward, and Fall Back, is an easy way to remember, which direction to move our clock.
Tonight if you’ll be heading to bed on Saturday, or Sunday morning, November 6, 2016, at 2 a.m. it will be time to set your clocks back one hour. This is our move from Daylight Savings Time and go back to Standard time.
If you forgot to set your clocks back before you went to bed on Saturday night, then this is your reminder to take care of things on Sunday morning.
Not only will I update all of our clocks to the correct time, I’ll also take care of the following items:
- Change clocks in our home, office and cars (turn back one hour).
- Check all smoke alarms/detectors
- Check all carbon monoxide alarms/detectors
- Fire extinguishers
- Any security device or item that uses a battery and is wireless (security cameras, video door bells, exterior/interior lights)
- All Flashlights (working, extra batteries), candles, matches, lighters, short-term lighting devices
- Back-up charger device for cell phones/lap tops (if they have a solar option for re-charging that’s always
- Canned goods/emergency food supplies
In the Lake Tahoe – Tahoe City – Truckee area most of our utility lines are above ground, and several times a year the power will go out, and it almost always happens during a major snow storm so being prepared to be without power for an extended period of time is a smart thing to do.
Take advantage of this timely reminder to not only change your clocks, but to keep do some routine safety checks, along with taking care of your final fall/winter home preparation!
Upcoming future dates to keep in mind:
- Next time Change: Sunday, March 12, 2017 – 126 days (Spring Forward and Lose One Hour)
- Shortest Day of the Year: Wednesday, December 21, 2016 Winter Solstice – 45 days
- New Year’s Day 2016 – 55 days from November 6, 2016
- Longest Day of the Year 2017 – Wednesday, June 21, 2017, 228 days – What will you do with your extra day this year?
So before the year is gone, hug those that you love, savor the count-down to the shortest day of the year, make your New Year’s resolutions now, and remember to soak in all of the wonderful things that surround you every day!
If you live in the greater North Lake Tahoe – Tahoe City area, it’s time to set your clocks back this Sunday, November 6, 2016, and if you forgot, it’s time to do it right now!
