Alpenglow in Meeks Bay and Rubicon Bay, California
Yesterday, I was down in Meeks Bay, California and I saw one of the most beautiful Alpenglow’s I’ve ever seen in the Rubicon Bay.
What is Alpenglow? According to Wikipedia, and I’m paraphrasing here, Alpenglow is a phenomenon when a red (sunset like) glow can be seen on the opposite mountain range after the sun has gone down, or right before the sun rises. There is no direct sun light. The light is behind the mountains, and it is reflected off the ice, snow, or water particles that are low in the atmosphere. If that’s too technical of a description, just know it’s a glorious burst of color.Take a look at how beautiful Lake Tahoe was last night on Meeks Bay Avenue in Rubicon Bay, California.
