Alpine Meadows, California is located approximately 5 miles north-west of Tahoe City (North Lake Tahoe), or 12 miles south-west of downtown Truckee, California off California Highway 89 South.
Alpine Meadows is a small ski resort area that is just south of Squaw Valley, California, home of the 1960 Winter Olympics. Alpine Meadows is known for its casual, low-key atmosphere and beautiful mountain setting.
This small community is a mix of smaller, older, Tahoe cabins, along with larger, newer luxury mountain homes, along with several condominium developments. Currently there are approximately 462 single family homes, 130 condominiums, with a year-around full-time populations of about 500 people**.
While Alpine Meadows is known for its great winter skiing and sports, a number of the Alpine Meadows property owners are also members in the Alpine Springs Community Park which provides great summer activities such as a swimming pond and beach area, BBQ area, tennis courts, and volleyball court area.
Residents and second home owners in this community love the mountains and enjoy being close to the Alpine Meadows Ski Resort. This is a great area to have a vacation-resort second home because it gives owners some distance from commercial development, yet it is close enough to still enjoy all that Tahoe City and Lake Tahoe has to offer such as boating, hiking, biking (dirt and paved trails), tennis, golf, skiing, shopping, and restaurants.
