Truckee Thursdays Schedule 2016

It’s summer time in North Lake Tahoe and Truckee and tonight is the kick-off of the Truckee Thursdays Schedule 2016!

It’s hard to believe that this popular local event is only eight years old, which started back in 2008. Today, this event will bring in thousands of locals and visitors into the Downtown Historic Truckee area each week to enjoy a fun summer evening here in the greater Truckee – Lake Tahoe community.

If this isn’t on your list of fun summer activities to do this year, you’ll need to plan on checking out the Truckee Thursdays Street Festival in Downtown Historic Truckee at least once this year!

You’ll find age appropriate activities for everyone including a kids area, food trucks, local merchant promotions (restaurants, shops, services) beer garden (21+ and over), and shopping.

Truckee Thursdays Schedule 2016 is on every Thursday beginning, June 9 – August 18, 2016 from 5 p.m. – 8:30 p.m..

It’s a fun street festival atmosphere with live music, beer garden (must be 21+ or older), which is very popular, and a lot of arts and crafts booths with many wonderful items to consider buying. I’ve gone many times and I’ve always had a good time. Check out this video from a previous Truckee Thursday video to get an idea of street fair event:

The North Lake Tahoe area has a number of festivals, street fairs, and events all summer long that really allow locals and visitors to enjoy being outside. The kick-off of Truckee Thursday means our high summer season is under way and if you haven’t made plans to be in our area, now is the time to book your summer vacation up here!

For those that have not been to a Truckee Thursday event from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. downtown Truckee closes off their main street and it becomes one big street festival and Farmers’ Market with live music and fun for everyone and all ages.

This local weekly event is free for everyone, including parking after 5 p.m., so there’s no reason to not come and enjoy the event.

One event goer tip, plan ahead for parking. Parking in the downtown Truckee area is limited, so take advantage of the free shuttle services this year from Donner Lake, Squaw Valley, Northstar, Sierra Meadows, Brockway, Prosser, and Glenshire. If you live, or are staying up in Tahoe Donner, take advantage of their free shuttle service, which was a huge success last year.

In addition to the new free shuttle services from so many new locations in the greater North Lake Tahoe area, you can also park at the Truckee High School, or Rodeo grounds (no service on Aug 8) and take that shuttle into the event. Taking advantage of any of the free shuttle services into the Truckee Thursday event means you don’t have to worry about finding a parking spot!

Last year there were over 10 full-service food vendors, 10 food carts, 11 certified farmers, and more than 80 different artisans, along with commercial and non-profit vendors, and this year promises to be even better as more vendors want to get in on one of the hottest tickets around in the greater North Lake Tahoe area.

There are merchants, artists, and food vendors with all sorts of interesting, unique, and delicious goods to choose from, along with vendors from the Farmers’ Market from the Foothill Farmers’ Market Association.

Summer is a great time to be here in Truckee and North Lake Tahoe and on Thursday nights you need to get out and check out Truckee Thursdays for a fun evening of food, drink, local entertainment and the Farmers’ Market.
