Veterans Day – Lake Tahoe, California, November 11, 2013
Today is Veterans’ Day, Monday, November 11, 2013 in Lake Tahoe, California. All over this country people are stopping our men and women in military service and saying “Thank You” and remembering the ultimate sacrifice so many men, women, and their families have made.
Depending on where you live, the traditions to honor and celebrate our Veterans today will vary, but the goal is the same, to remember their sacrifice, their service, their commitment to this country and the freedoms we all enjoy because they defend us.
While we often think of our armed service men and women on this day, I like to also say thank you to anyone in a uniform that is there is help us in a tragedy. For me it’s our local County Sherriff personal, the local Fire Department and Paramedics. If you live near water don’t forget the Coast Guard and local Search and Rescue groups. All of these people put your safety first, and they do so at a personal risk to themselves. Take this opportunity to say thank you to those that have served, and those that are serving to protect our freedom and those that help us when we’re in trouble.
Each day we should all be thankful for what our men and women in service do for us, and we shouldn’t let a day go by that we don’t remember that service and sacrifice!
