Oktoberfest Village at Olympic Valley – 2025

The greater North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area has four seasons.

While we are known for our world-class winter sports and ski resort areas, and we are also known for our amazing summers with sunny clear blue skies, hot days and cool nights that have the beautiful Lake Tahoe area as its backdrop!

What you may not know is Fall is one of the best times to be here in the greater North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area!

The leaves have started to turn, the summer crowds are gone, and our temperatures while they have cooled off from those hot days in July, they are still warm and sunny!

As I write this post, September is almost gone and our outdoor events are numbered. So it is time once again for the annual Oktoberfest event at the Village at Palisades Tahoe in Olympic Valley this Saturday, Sept 27, 2025 from 12 noon to 6 p.m.

We’ve had a long, wonderful summer, and it’s hard to believe in less than 95 days snow will be on the ground and we will be bringing in a new year!

As we say good-bye to our late summer weather, now is the time to come out and celebrate the changing of our seasons at one of our fun, Fall Tahoe events.

Personally, we love this annual event! How can you not enjoy being at the Village at Palisades Tahoe as it amps up its European vibe as it celebrates Oktoberfest!

There will be live music, authentic food (can anyone say bratwurst, or over-sized pretzel?), German brews, and fun games for all ages to enjoy!

There is an Admission charge (buy tickets ahead of the event and save, or buy at the door). The event is free to kids 12 and under in age, as a FYI.

There is a cost for beer, beverages and food, and those costs will vary depending on your personal selection.

The entry fee includes a donation to the High Sierra Lacrosse Foundation, so you can have fun, while helping out a great local group!

Let’s talk games! There will be a keg rolling race, a Brat Toss yes, the ever popular wiener toss is back again, and there is a Stein Holding Competition!

Here is the schedule of Games and Entertainment:

Oktoberfest Games are FREE to enter. First come, first to participate. Games have been moved to the Tram Circle this year!
GAME HOURS: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Stein Race: 1 p.m.- Teams of (2) compete in a speed walk through an obstacle course.
Brat Toss: 2:30 p.m. – Toss the bratwurst onto a keg, with each round adding difficulty, last person standing wins.
Stein Holding Competition: 4 p.m. – Competitors hold a full, 1-liter stein in one hand at shoulder height. Last competitor holding full steins wins.

ENTERTAINMENT: 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Erdinger and Oktoberfest Craft beers from Sierra Nevada, Deschutes, FiftyFifty, Alibi, Truckee Brewing, BrewBilt Brewing, Lagunitas, Farmers Brewing o, Founders, and Anderson Valley Brewing, and more.

I have to admit, my favorite event seems to always be the Brat Toss event. You get one chance to toss your brat onto the top of a keg.

It’s not as easy as it looks, but so much fun to watch contestants try!

The Village at Palisades Tahoe will be featuring a German theme through-out the Village.

If you love to dance and sing along then you’ll enjoy the live music, where you’ll get a chance to be part of the action.

Feel like dressing up? You’re encouraged to wear traditional Lederhosen and dirndls, but it’s not required!

To get you in the mood there will be live Bavarian music played featuring Joe Smiell and his 20 piece Bavarian Band. They are awesome and their music will put a smile on your face!

Festival goers that are 21+ and want to enjoy great craft beers will purchase a commemorative beer glass/mug. Beer tickets can be purchased at the event.

For those younger in age, check out the root beer float station! Yes, I can tell you from personal experience this is a delicious, sweet treat too!

Craig (my better half in life) has really enjoyed the brats, beer, and the root beer floats!

For me I love the over-sized pretzel with mustard, along with an ice cold beer!

We’re expecting a beautiful, sunny, warm day, so dress accordingly. I think it will feel like late summer!
