Arts and Crafts Fair, Kings Beach 2012

There are so many things I enjoy during our summer season here in Lake Tahoe. One of my favorites is going to the annual Arts and Crafts Fair in Kings Beach, California.

For nearly twenty-five years I’ve enjoyed looking at local Tahoe and Western United States artisans’ wares at the Arts and Crafts Fair in downtown Kings Beach, California.

You’ll find the combination of summer sunshine, sandy beaches, the blue of Lake Tahoe in the background along with all of the different artist booths so much fun to wander around.

I love admiring the work these talented individuals have produced. You’ll find jewelry, paintings, pottery, glassware, clothing, and so much more. You’ll discover some amazing treasures here in Lake Tahoe.

Located at the Kings Beach Plaza (Corner of Hwy 28 and Coon Street), you’ll enjoy seeing all of the items for sale, along with just being here in Lake Tahoe.

The Arts and Crafts Fair in Kings Beach is free to the public and is open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Here is their schedule for the rest of the summer.

Kings Beach Farmers Market 2012

Shopping at the Farmers’ Markets in the Lake Tahoe area is a great way to enjoy fresh summer produce. If you’re in the North Lake Tahoe area you can check out the local Kings Beach Farmers Market every Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. this summer at the corner of Bear Street and Highway 28 (look for the Kings Beach Farmers Market Signs).

If you miss the Kings Beach Farmers’ Market, you can catch the Farmers Market in Truckee, at the Truckee Regional Park at 10500 Brockway Road off Highway 267 on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., or in downtown Tahoe City on Thursdays from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

If you’ll be in the greater Kings Beach, North Lake Tahoe area on any Tuesday between now and August 28, 2012 be sure to stop by the Kings Beach Farmers Market! It’s a great way to spend a few hours and enjoy being here in Lake Tahoe.

Kilner Park, Tahoe City

On the West Shore of Lake Tahoe you’ll find Kilner Park; a small, public, neighborhood park in the Pineland subdivision of Tahoe City, California.

Kilner Park was named after Fred Kilner who was a local builder in the area who donated the land for the park to be built on. Mr. Kilner was credited with building the first cabin on Ward Creek back in 1933, which became a restaurant known as the Forest Inn, Clementine’s, and most recently as the Black Bear Tavern.

Kilner Park is located on the corner of Ward Avenue and Highway 89 South, which is about 2.5 miles south of the “Y” in Tahoe City right before Ward Creek. It is a nice seven (7) acre wooded public park that has plenty of off-street parking making it a great location for larger groups to get-together.

Kilner Park has two (2) tennis courts, a basketball hoop area, a practice area for tennis players, a sand volleyball court, lots of picnic tables and BBQ stands, paved paths and wooded trails, along with children’s playground equipment, and on-site public bathrooms.

If you want to walk up the hiking trails in the California State Park (dog friendly) that is located just to the south of Ward Creek (1/2 block from Kilner Park), this is a great place to park your car. Kilner Park is owned and maintained by the Tahoe City Public Utility District.
