The Dollar Point neighborhood of Tahoe City is located approximately three (3) miles east of downtown Tahoe City on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, California. The Dollar Point neighborhood is a premium residential lakeside neighborhood location and is between downtown Tahoe City and the commercial area of Carnelian Bay.

The Dollar Point neighborhood of Tahoe City, California has a few, smaller, older Tahoe cabins, but the neighborhood is mostly a mix of larger mountain homes and newer luxury properties. Dollar Point has approximately 569 parcels, of which, 39 are lakefront properties, and roughly 40% of the homes in this subdivision have some sort of view of Lake Tahoe, making this a highly desirable area in North Lake Tahoe.

Dollar Point homes for sale are very desirable because of their close proximity to Lake Tahoe recreational activities such as boating, hiking, biking, tennis, golf, skiing, shopping, and restaurants.

The Dollar Point area is known for its easy year-around access, the larger lot sizes, and the nice wide streets. It’s an easy neighborhood to get to on a year-around basis, and vacation rentals in the area are always in demand.

In 2011, there were eight (8) Dollar Point homes sold with an average median home sales price of $657,000. The lowest Dollar Point home sold was $519,000 and the highest was a lakefront property at $3,040,050.

It’s your worst nightmare come true. Your beloved pet is sick. It’s late at night, on the weekend, or holiday and you don’t know what to do, or where to go. If you’re in the greater Truckee, Tahoe City, Lake Tahoe, California, or Incline, Nevada area you have a great resource if your animal needs medical help now.

The Animal Emergency Center in Reno, Nevada is open during the hours when regular veterinary clinics are closed. We have Irish Wolfhound dogs and we’ve used their services on more than one occasion, with great results.

What has our experience been with the Animal Emergency Center? We have used their services many times. One of their big success stories for us was when we used their services on Monday, August 29, 2011. Rose, our Irish Wolfhound dog (pictured above) started crying and whining after dinner. We had no idea what was wrong with her, other than she wanted some attention.

After a while of her complaining, we realized something was really wrong. It was more than just I want your attention now. Her lower abdomen was completed blown-up. She was huge. At the time we thought it was just gas, but as it turned out, we were just lucky enough to have gotten her to Reno in time for help.

Her stomach had turned over (they call it the bloat), and her time with us was just about out. Our choices were to let her die on her own in excruciating pain, put her down, or try the life-saving surgery.

We opted for the live-saving surgery where they would go in and turn her stomach back around. She lost her spleen, and there were complications with her heart, but she was still with us.

The next few days after the surgery were some of the longest days we’ve ever had. Honestly, they didn’t think she would make it because of the complications, but she surprised everyone. On day three after the surgery she just seem to wake up and she looked at us to say “what’s all the fuss about?” after that, she was on her way to a full recovery. Today, Rose is still with us, and she is happier than ever.

The tough economic times have been difficult for everyone, but for some, it means having to give up their beloved pet. A choice no one ever expects to have to make, but with the difficult financial hardships many are finding themselves in, it becomes their only option.

The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe’s Pet Pantry is a “no questions asked” program that distributes donated pet food to anyone who cannot afford to feed their pets. Free pet food in the Lake Tahoe, Tahoe City, and Truckee, California areas is available for anyone who needs it.

Anyone who needs pet food can pick-up food at the Town of Truckee’s kennel located at 10720 Riverview Drive, Truckee, California. The kennel is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (close each day from noon to 1 pm).

The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe always has a need for donations, so if you have extra pet food to donate, you can drop off pet food at collection barrels in Truckee at the Pet Station and Scraps Dog Bakery.

The Timberland neighborhood of Tahoe City, California is located approximately 3 miles south of Tahoe City on the West Shore of West Lake Tahoe.

Timberland homes for sale:

The Timberland area is a very small, West Shore neighborhood that is located between Ward Creek and Hurricane Bay. There are only 197 parcels in this neighborhood, which makes finding Timberland homes for sale more difficult. This West Shore neighborhood is easy to get to and its location makes it easy to get to Homewood Ski Resort, Alpine Meadows, or Squaw Valley.

This neighborhood is home to the Rideout Community Center, which is a Tahoe community center that offers classes, after-school and summer camp programs, along with recreational facilities that are open to the public. Ping pong, air hockey, an exercise weight room, basketball court, soccer field and playground equipment just to name a few of the amenities that the center offers.

The Timberland neighborhood is a mix of some smaller, older, Tahoe cabins, along with larger, newer luxury mountain homes. There are a limited number of lakefront properties in this neighborhood, and these lakefront properties are often classified as Sunnyside depending on the listing agent, so be sure to search all Tahoe City lakefront properties for sale.

The Timberland neighborhood is very popular with full-time residents and second home owners. This area offers a nice forest setting, and is a very short distance to the public beaches of Hurricane Bay in Lake Tahoe making it a good vacation rental location for summer and winter rentals.

Centrally located between Tahoe City and Homewood, California, the Timberland neighborhood is close to all of the Lake Tahoe recreational activities our area is known for such as boating, hiking, biking (dirt and paved trails), tennis, golf, skiing, shopping, and restaurants.

Currently there is only one Timberland home for sale at $649,000. In 2011, there was one (1) home sold.
