Bears in Tahoe City, California

We’ve begun getting ready for winter here in Tahoe City. We’re expecting our first snow storm on Monday, so today, while the weather was still nice, we did some work around our home.

While I was picking up pine cones, and putting away the summer outdoor furniture, I was rewarded with seeing this beautiful bear. It turned out that this was a mother bear that had come onto our property, while she had left the two clubs alone across the street.

Even though I live in Lake Tahoe on a year-around basis, for me, bear sightings are still a rare and special event. This is only the second time I’ve seen a bear this year. Take a look at these beautiful animals in this video.

Everyone needs to use extreme caution when they have a bear sighting. Remember to keep a safe, significant distance from them. Staying away from the bear, and allowing the animal to continue on their way undisturbed is the key to a successful wildlife sighting. Remember to use the telephoto lens on your cameras and camcorders and enjoy the experience.
