8th Annual Black Tie and Tails Gala 2016 Lake Tahoe

If you love your dog, and like to party, get ready for an evening of dinner, dancing, and lot of fun by supporting the local Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe at their 8th Annual Black Tie and Tails Gala 2016 Lake Tahoe fund raising event, this Saturday, February 13, 2016 starting at 5:30 pm at the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe.

If you’ll be up in the greater Truckee – Lake Tahoe area for the Valentine’s Day – President’s Holiday weekend, this event promises to be a lot of fun for you and your dog. Be prepared to see everyone, including our furry friends decked out in their finest black tie attire.

This one-of-a-kind event is a wonderful gala that will have you walking the red carpet with your best four-legged friend, sipping champagne, enjoying appetizers followed by gourmet meal, dancing, and entertainments! It’s the Ritz-Carlton so you know it will be an amazing event for everyone!

100% of the funds raised benefit the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe, so if you’re looking for a way to support the community and the animals the Humane Society helps, this is a fun and easy way to do it. Here are the details:

This is a one-of-a-kind event and with approximately 350 guests, and their furry friends this event sells out every year! If you can’t attend, but would like to support the local Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe you can still make a difference with a contribution to the organization. Every donation makes a difference.

This weekend at the Village at Northstar and the Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe the 30th Annual Autumn Food and Wine Festival will take place September 11-13, 2015!

This gourmet three-day event is loaded with free classes, presentations, special culinary events, and the Gourmet Market Place.

Ready to take your taste buds to the next level? Then you’ll want to sign-up for some of the special classes and events that vary in price from $25 to $125 for the Tahoe Long Table Harvest Dinner, and the Grand Tasting at $95.ticket for the day of the event.

There are so many great free classes and demonstrations, not to mention the Blazing Pans Mountain Chef Cook-Off you’ll really find yourself inspired to take your every day cooking to the next level once you spend the day at the Village at Northstar.

Ready to celebrate this 4th of July weekend? Check out the Beerfest and Bluegrass at the Village at Northstar today, Friday, July 3, 2015.

It’s the day before the 4th of July and if you’re in the greater North Lake Tahoe area and you like to taste beer and the sound of Bluegrass music, this is the event for you today at the Village at Northstar starting at 3 p.m.

Northstar does a great job with their events, and with temperatures today in the low 80’s it will be the perfect day to taste ice cold beers, at last count they planned on having thirty-two (32) breweries, and sit back and enjoy some great music (two great Bluesgrass bands)!

For the designated driver, or those that are younger there will be non-alcoholic beverages and a BBQ also available for purchase, along with activities for the little ones.

New Year’s Eve – Northstar, California – December 31, 2014

It’s the last day of 2014 and if you’re still trying to decide how you’ll spend New Year’s Eve, consider the FREE events and activities that are planned at Northstar, tonight New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2014.

Northstar does a great job with their annual Fire and Ice New Year’s Eve Celebration, which is appropriate for all ages. Dress warmly as you’ll be outside and the weather for tonight is expected to be in the low teens, possible single digits tonight – brrrr!

Here is the schedule of their New Year’s Eve events:

New Year’s Eve – Northstar, California – December 31, 2014

12 noon – 3 p.m. DJ Fidjital will be playing in the Northstar Village village stage by the ice rink

3:45 p.m. – 4:00p.m. Northstar will be putting on a Ripperroo Parade for all ages (Ripperroo is the ski and snowboard mascot), beads, noise makers, singing, dancing, you get the idea, and should be a lot of fun for everyone. The parade will be in the Village

5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. DJ Chango will be playing in the Northstar Village village stage by the ice rink

7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Enjoy an evening with live music by “Petty Theft: San Francisco Tribute to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers”. This live band will play at Village stage by the ice skating rink stage, so get there early to get a good spot to watch the performance.

9 p.m. Fireworks Show at Northstar p.m.

Carve Tahoe – Northstar, February 2, 2014

The second annual Carve Tahoe, which is an international snow sculpture event, started this past Monday, January 27, 2014 in Northstar and runs through tomorrow, Sunday, February 2014.

I had the chance to stop by the Carve Tahoe event today at the Village at Northstar and I can tell you first hand that these are incredible works of snow sculpture art.

If you’re not familiar with the Carve Tahoe event, the event is made up of international three-person teams. Each Carve Tahoe team receives a 20-ton block of compacted mad-made snow that starts off as a 10’x10’x12’ form. The teams can carve the snow into anything they want, or can imagine using only hand tools, snow and water.

We’ve had some crazy weather conditions over the past few days – sunshine, rain, and snow, so seeing what these teams were able to create with our wild weather this past week is really amazing.

Teams from Yukon Canada, Finland/Czech Republic, Germany, Japan, Mongolia, USA California/Netherlands, USA Tahoe/Truckee, and USA Wisconsin participated in the Carve Tahoe event. Awards were given out Saturday afternoon and you can see the snow sculptures on Sunday and Monday, weather permitting.

Where: The Northstar Village, 5001 Northstar Drive, Truckee, CA 96161

When: Sunday, February 2, 2014 and Monday, February 3, 2014

Cost: Free

Events like Tahoe Carve are a great way to see what artists can do with snow. Some of the sculptures were close to 20 feet in height, and it was hard to believe that they were just a block of snow just a few days before.

If you’re in the greater Northstar area try and see the snow sculptures before they are gone!
