Autumn Food and Wine Festival Northstar 2018

If you like food, wine, and cooking, then this is the event for you!

This weekend at the Village at Northstar and the Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe the 33rd Annual Autumn Food and Wine Festival will take place September 7-9th, 2018!

This gourmet three-day event is loaded with free classes, presentations, special culinary events, and the Gourmet Market Place.

Ready to take your taste buds to the next level? Then you’ll want to sign-up for some of the special classes and events that vary in price from $25 to $125 for the Tahoe Long Table Harvest Dinner, and the Grand Tasting at $95.ticket for the day of the event.

There are several free classes and demonstrations, not to mention the Blazing Pans Mountain Chef Cook-Off.

We’ve been several times and you’ll walk away feeling inspired and looking forward to cooking at home

Northstar Beerfest and Bluegrass Festival - 2018 The 4th of July holiday may be over, but the holiday summer fun continues on here in the greater Truckee and North Lake Tahoe area!

What a great way to end the holiday festivities with a three (3) day festival event of tasting ice cold beers while listening to fantastic live Bluegrass music. The event starts today (July 6) and will continue on Saturday and Sunday.

Northstar Beerfest and Bluegrass Festival - 2018 Northstar does a great job with their special events. We have really enjoyed going to them, and I think you will too.

This weekend temperatures will be in the low to mid 80’s with a lot of sunshine and blue skies.

It will be a great time to be outside and to taste some ice cold brews, and to kick-back and enjoy some great live music.

At last count they planned on having more than forty (40) breweries, along with three great Bluegrass bands at the event!

Northstar Beerfest and Bluegrass 2017

Northstar Beerfest and Bluegrass 2017 It’s time to start celebrating the 4th of July, and a great way to start is by checking out the Beerfest and Bluegrass 2017 event at the Village at Northstar today, Saturday, July 1, 2017.

It’s the kick-off to a long 4th of July weekend, or week depending on your plans, so if you’re in the greater North Lake Tahoe area and you like to taste beer and the sounds of Bluegrass music, this is the event for you today at the Village at Northstar starting at 3 p.m.

Northstar does a great job with their events, and we’ve really enjoyed them. Today temperatures will be in the mid 80’s with a lot of sunshine so it will be the perfect day to taste ice cold beers, and kick-back and enjoy some great music.

At last count they planned on having more than twenty-five(25) breweries, along with three great Bluegrass bands!

Making and decorating a personalized Gingerbread House is a great way to celebrate the holidays. The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe will take your Gingerbread House making experience to a whole new level and the best part will be:

No baking, or preparation on your part!

No clean up after the Gingerbread House building party is over!

S’moresapalooza – Northstar Village February 27 2016

Yes, if you’re reading this, the title is right S’moresapalooza is coming to the Village at Northstar this Saturday, February 27, 2016!

What a sweet way to end the month of February than by indulging in a S’moresapalooza event!

For those that are not familiar with what a S’more is, let me share the tasty components that go into this campfire treat.

Recipe for making a S’more:

Two (2) graham crackers
One (1) perfectly toasted marshmallow that is ready to slip off its roasting stick
One (1) chocolate bar (nuts in the chocolate are optional)

While all of the ingredients are important, the key to a great S’more is the marshmallow. The marshmallow has to be toasted to a gooey perfection, and while it is still hot from being toasted in either the wood campfire or in the gas fire pit, you’ll then put that gooey hot marshmallow next to the chocolate candy bar in between the two graham crackers and then enjoy.

A S’more is typically a campfire treat, but with our open gas fire pits that are located at our ski resorts and in now in many of our Tahoe back-yards and decks here in the Lake Tahoe region, the S’more is now making a year-around appearance.

Nothing takes me back in time than being around a campfire and toasting marshmallows and making this classic camp dessert.

I’ll be the first to admit more often than not, I’ve set my marshmallow on fire and I’ve had it turn into a crispy charred black object, rather than the perfect golden brown it should have been with that gooey inside. This is one of those things in life that practice not only makes for perfection, but is also a lot of fun to do as you get to eat the rejects!

You can see that we have the traditional S’more on the event schedule, but you can see that the S’more can be so much more.

Recently, I’ve seen this campfire treat on a restaurant menu – can you say “I’ll have the deconstructed S’more?” Can you imagine the possibilities with specialty chocolate candy bars, and gourmet cookies and how this goes to a whole new level that any Foodie would appreciate? It’s not just a treat for the kids any more!

I’m hoping S’moresapalooza (just try saying that word three times and see if it doesn’t put a smile on your face) becomes an annual event at Northstar. What a fun way to make the transition into spring skiing and to get ready for SnowFest! 2016 North Lake Tahoe’s Snow Festival, which starts next week March 3 – March 13, 2016!
