Currently most of the Telsa, and/or EV stations in the greater Lake Tahoe area are free-to-charge, but as market conditions change, I would expect more fee/charging stations.
Two good sources of locating charging stations in Lake Tahoe are www.Chargepoint.com and www.PlugShare.com with up-to-date locations of available for EV/Telsa stations.
Last October 2014, Telsa announced that it would be building a $5 billion “Gigafactory” just outside of Reno, Nevada, which would produce batteries to power Tesla’s unreleased Model 3 car. Just one more sign of why we expect to see more Telsa cars in the greater Tahoe City – Lake Tahoe area in the coming years.
As electrical vehicles become more popular in Northern California, where to charge your Telsa Car, or EV car in Tahoe City, CA will be as easy as filling up your gas tank!
