Fall in Tahoe City, California

Fall in Tahoe City, California is one of my favorite times of the year here! All of our seasons are wonderful here in the North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area, but there is something very special about our Fall season.

Perhaps it is because it the one season that is often over-looked once we hit October, but if you make the journey here, you’ll be rewarded with our scenic beauty, along with having the place all to yourself!

Today was Monday, November 14, 2016 and these photographs were taken on my daily walk on the West Shore of Tahoe City.

I think our Fall, which for many unofficially starts right after Labor Day, and it will run until we hit the holidays at the end of the year. It is a season that offers so much to anyone who enjoys being outdoors.

Perhaps as I grow older this change of seasons is more poetic, or maybe it’s just knowing that once the heavy snow hits the ground my daily walks will move indoors onto a machine. Maybe it’s because it’s now dark by 5:30 p.m., and I miss those long warm summer days and evenings. Regardless of the reasons, Lake Tahoe has never looked more inviting!

You can see that the leaves are long gone, and there was no one around on the beach today, or on the bike path. The summer crowds are long gone, and while tomorrow we are expecting rain here in Tahoe City turning to snow later in the day and possibly on Wednesday, for now I can’t help but enjoy our beautiful Fall days.
