New Year’s Eve Fireworks - Squaw Valley, California – December 31, 2012 If you’ll be in the Squaw Valley area on December 31, 2012, plan to be at the KT Base Bar area to watch the Free Fireworks that will start at 9 p.m. After the fireworks, if you’re over the age of 21, the Olympic House will be the place to be.  A $10 cover charge at the door will get you in and you’ll be able to keep the party going and bring in the New Year in style!

Here is the schedule of their events:

New Year’s Eve – Squaw Valley, California – December 31, 2012 

9 p.m. Fireworks at the Squaw Valley Village.  Best viewing area will be at the KT Base Bar area, but if you have a view of the Squaw Valley ski slopes you’ll have a view of the fireworks!

9:30 p.m. until Closing – The Olympic House $10 cover charge must be 21+

There are a lot of ways to get home safely.  Check out the Tahoe area bus system for their expanded night service for a free ride.  Service will run until 2 a.m.  Be safe, don’t drink and drive!

New Year’s Eve – Northstar, California – December 31, 2012It’s the last day of 2012 and if you’re still trying to decide how you’ll spend New Year’s Eve, consider the FREE events and activities that are planned at Northstar, tonight New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2012.

Northstar does a great job with their annual Fire and Ice New Year’s Eve Celebration, which is appropriate for all ages.  Dress warmly as the weather for tonight is expected to be clear, but cold with temperatures down into the single digits!

Here is the schedule of their events:

New Year’s Eve – Northstar, California – December 31, 2012 

12 noon  – 3 p.m. DJ Fidjital will be playing in the Northstar Village

4:45 p.m.   Northstar will be putting on a Ripperroo Parade for all ages (Ripperroo is the ski and snowboard mascot), beads, noise makers, singing, dancing, you get the idea, and should be a lot of fun for everyone.  The parade will be in the Village

7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Enjoy an evening with live music by Livin’ on a Prayer.  This live band will play at the ice skating rink stage, so get there early to get a good spot to watch the performance.

9 p.m.  Fireworks at Northstar at 9 p.m.

Ho, ho, ho, Lake Tahoe has new snow! On the West Shore of Lake Tahoe  this afternoon I measured about 18″ of new snow here at the lake level, so you can just imagine how much more snow they’ve received at the ski resorts!

This monster snow storm will continue through Monday, and most Tahoe ski resorts  are expecting to receive another 5+ feet of new snow.  We should have amazing skiing conditions for  the Christmas – New Year’s holiday week!Tahoe Ski Resorts – Snow Report December 13, 2012

Torchlight Parade – Christmas Eve in Squaw Valley, California 2012If you’ll be spending the holidays here in the North Lake Tahoe area, one local Tahoe favorite is to watch the Torchlight Parade at Squaw Valley, California on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2012.

The Torchlight Parade will begin at 6 p.m. and the best viewing will be at the KT Base Bar area.  Events do start on time, and if you do get there a little early you’ll have time to grab a hot chocolate from Starbucks in the Squaw Valley Village, or to get a libation at the KT Base Bar.

Dress warmly as the weather is forecasted to be cold and with the big winter weather snow storm we are about to get in the next few days right before the big holiday, you may need extra time to just get around.

My family went last year, so check out last year’s Christmas Eve Torchlight Parade video in Squaw Valley.  Get ready for some Tahoe holiday magic!

Where: KT Base Bar, The Village at Squaw Valley, Olympic Valley, CA.  While you’ll be able to see the Torchlight Parade from any location that has a view of the Squaw Valley Ski Resort Mountain, being at the KT Base Bar is going to give you a great place to view the event.

When:  Monday, December 31, 2012 –  6 p.m.
