Homewood Arts and Crafts Fair - 2018The North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area has a number of fun events, activities to do, and seasonal events this summer.   

If you’re looking for some shopping options, check out the Homewood Arts and Crafts Fair this year. 

They will be open this post holiday weekend July 6,7, and 8th, 2018, but they will also have additional events through-out the summer.

We will have several arts and crafts events this year in the North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area in four (4) different locations, including Homewood, CA with several different event promoters:

Four different locations for arts and crafts fairs this year:

Homewood Arts and Crafts Fair - 2018I know there are a lot of fun summer activities to do in our area, but if a little shopping is on your list, this is a great opportunity to see artists and vendors that are only here during our summer season.

I know you’ll enjoy going from booth to booth looking for that special piece of art, pottery, jewelry, trinket, or unique item that will remind you of your Lake Tahoe summer trip.

This is always a great opportunity to talk one-on-one with many of the artists that made the creation and learn the story, or inspiration for the piece.

The Homewood Arts and Crafts Fair is located at the Homewood Ski Resort parking lot area at 5145, West Lake Blvd., Homewood, California. 

You’ll want to make some time to stop and see all of the items for sale.

Northstar Beerfest and Bluegrass Festival - 2018The 4th of July holiday may be over, but the holiday summer fun continues on here in the greater Truckee and North Lake Tahoe area! 

Looking for more Tahoe events?  Check out the Northstar Beerfest and Bluegrass Festival 2018 three (3) day event at the Village at Northstar this weekend!

What a great way to end the holiday festivities with a three (3) day festival event of tasting ice cold beers while listening to fantastic live Bluegrass music.  The event starts today (July 6) and will continue on Saturday and Sunday.

Northstar Beerfest and Bluegrass Festival - 2018Northstar does a great job with their special events.  We have really enjoyed going to them, and I think you will too.

This weekend temperatures will be in the low to mid 80’s with a lot of sunshine and blue skies. 

It will be a great time to be outside and to taste some ice cold brews, and to kick-back and enjoy some great live music.

At last count they planned on having more than forty (40) breweries, along with three great Bluegrass bands at the event!

  • Cost:  $45 at the door.  ($35/advance) Must be 21+years of age to enjoy the sampling of the beers.
  • Included with your ticket:  Beerfest & Bluesgrass tasting glass, sample/tastings from the different breweries, and live music.

Truckee 4th of July Pancake Breakfast -Truckee Fire Protection DistrictThe Truckee Fire Protection District is hosting their Annual 4th of July Pancake Breakfast this Wednesday, July 4, 2018 from 7 a.m. to  10 a.m. at Station 92, 11473 Donner Pass Road, Truckee, CA.

This event is free (charitable donations appreciated, but not required) and is a great way to start your holiday.  

Who doesn’t love hot pancakes off the grill with butter and maple syrup on a beautiful summer day?  

I know I do, and annual pancake breakfast is a must-do event before the Truckee 4th of July Parade, which will start at 10 a.m.!  While you are there enjoying your pancakes, be sure to check out the Custom Big Truck hats and shirts available for purchase!

If you’re looking for more details on the Annual Truckee 4th of July Parade, where to watch it, which direction is the parade headed, here are some quick details: 

  • The Parade is being staged at the Truckee High School and will follow Donner Pass Road ending in Downtown Historic Truckee. 
  • Setting up your folding chairs, or standing along the parade route will get you a view of the parade entries. 
  • Parade starts at 10 a.m. and will end around 12 noon.
  • Parade viewing tips:
    • Bring a folding chair. 
    • Wear Sunscreen. 
    • Bring water to drink.
    • Be prepared to be in the sunshine.  Some people will bring a small pop-up instant canopy, or umbrellas, but they will set-up away from the crowds.  (Use your common sense on this one.)

The North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area is a great place to spend your 4th of July. Enjoy the day, make some memories, and be safe!

July 3 - Kings Beach Fireworks 2018It’s here our 4th of July holiday week and the North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area has a number of fun, free, holiday events to make the 4th of July special!

In the North Lake Tahoe area, holiday events will start with the annual July 3 – Kings Beach Fireworks 2018 beach party and show.

You’ll enjoy an evening of music fireworks, and fun at the Kings Beach Annual Fireworks Celebration & Beach Party, Tuesday, July 3, 2018.

The Kings Beach beach party and fireworks event will start at 7 p.m. and go until around 10 p.m. by the North Tahoe Event Center and the Kings Beach State Park Recreation Area in downtown Kings Beach.

Entry into this annual event is free (bring your own blankets, beach towels, and beach chairs), but there is also “Preferred Seating” is $25 per seat.  It is limited and sold on a first come first served basis.   This is a sell-out event, so don’t wait.

Parking is very limited in the area and event goers are encouraged to take public transportation, walk, bike, and/or car pool. 

Give yourself plenty of time for traffic/travel (it’s a big holiday week and we have a lot of people in town), to find a parking spot, and then find a place on the beach to watch the show.

Once the sun sets there will be a wonderful fireworks display over Lake Tahoe at around 9:30 p.m.

Our weather is perfect – hot days and are evenings are still cooling down, which should make for great evening out to watch the firework show in Kings Beach on July 3, 2018.

July 3 - Kings Beach Fireworks 2018In the North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area we will have more than just one night of fireworks! 

On the 4th of July you’ll have another night of fireworks in either downtown Tahoe City, or if you’re in Truckee you’ll have fireworks at the West End of Donner Lake!

We have so many wonderful events going on during this holiday week it will be hard to do them all!

Summer time in Lake Tahoe is always a special time of year, so if you haven’t made plans to come up to the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee area, now is the time to take a good look at your calendar and plan a trip up here and enjoy all that North Shore of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding area has to offer.

If you have been looking for a reason to come up to the Kings Beach, California area, the 3rd of July Fireworks and Beach Party is a good one!

Summer Outdoor Movie Schedule Squaw Valley 2018Squaw Valley may be known for it’s world-class skiing, snowboarding, and winter sports, but summer-time is just as much fun to be in Olympic Valley and the greater Lake Tahoe area.  

On Thursday nights in July and August you’ll want to check out one of their FREE outdoor Summer movies at the Village at Squaw Valley.

The free outdoor movies are presented in the Events Plaza at the Village at Squaw Valley and a new movie is presented each week. All movies begin around 8:30 p.m. (dusk) weather permitting.

Summer Outdoor Movie Schedule Squaw Valley 2018

Movie goers are encouraged to:

  • Dress in layers and wear warmer clothing – sweaters and jackets are highly recommended.
  • Bring a blanket.  Summer evenings are cool in Squaw Valley and Lake Tahoe!
  • Arrive early to get a good seat.  The movie begins at 8:30 p.m. (Dusk)
  • Bring a small flashlight so you can look around your chair after the movie, or in your snack bag during the movie.
  • Food and Beverages will be available for sale from local vendors
  • Chairs are provided, but if you have a camping chair you prefer (not everyone is comfortable the plastic Adirondack Chairs), bring it along and you can set it up on the outer edges, or back of the viewing area.

Last year we made an evening out of several free events.  We started at the Truckee Thursdays event.  We walked and looked at the different vendors that were lined up on the street.

We  then made our way over to the food vendor area and we had something to eat from one of the food trucks.  I had to have one of those large lemonade drinks, and then we stopped and listened to the music on Main Street by the beer garden.

Since we had started early we were able to head out around 8 and make the free outdoor movie at the Village at Squaw Valley.  We had a great summer evening out, and we were home before 11 p.m.!
