Free Concert in Tahoma, CA Saturday, July 5, 2014

The 4^th of July weekend has been loaded with a number of free events. Hopefully you’ve added the FREE concert tonight, Saturday, July 5, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 9 pm. at the Marie Sluchak Park in Tahoma, California onto your list of things to do while you’re here!

The “Way Out West” will be there to play all of your Country Music favorites from the past to the present.

This band has it all and will be fun entertainment for the entire family. If you’ll be on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe, or down near the Tahoma area, this will be an enjoyable event for everyone.

Our day-time temperatures have been in the mid-80’s, and while it will be warm and comfortable at the beginning of the concert, in the shade as the evening wears on it may be cooler by the end of the performance, so plan ahead and bring along a light jacket for later.

Homewood Fine Arts and Crafts Fair, July 4 – 6, 2014

Fine Arts and Crafts Fair, Homewood, July 4 – 7, 2013 If you’ll be up here in the greater Homewood area for the 4^th of July holiday weekend, don’t forget to check out the Fine Arts and Crafts Fair on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe this weekend.

You’ll find amazing artists and unique crafts and jewelry at the Pacific Fine Arts and Crafts festival this coming weekend, July 4, 5, and 6th, 2014 at the Homewood Ski Resort parking lot.

I went last year and while it is a smaller fine arts and crafts event, I really enjoyed going from booth to booth looking for the special piece of art, pottery, jewelry, trinket, or unique item that will remind me later of the 4th of July weekend here in Lake Tahoe.

Call me sentimental, but I like looking around my rooms and seeing the special items that remind me of a vacation trip, a special friend, or a summer day here in Lake Tahoe.

I can’t help admire the raw talent it takes to create an original work of art. You’ll find jewelry, paintings, pottery, glassware, clothing, and so much more. You’ll discover some amazing treasures here in Lake Tahoe. Located at the Homewood Ski Resort, 5441, West Lake Blvd., Homewood, California, you’ll want to stop and see all of the items for sale, along with just being here in Lake Tahoe. The Fine Arts and Crafts Fair in Homewood is free to the public.

Kings Beach Fireworks and Beach Party – July 3, 2014

It’s going to be a fun 4th of July weekend here in the Lake Tahoe – Truckee area! Start the holiday weekend off by being at the Kings Beach July 3 Fireworks and Beach Party, today in Kings Beach, California

You’ll enjoy an evening of music and food at the Kings Beach Annual Fireworks Celebration & Beach Party, today, July 3, 2014.

The Kings Beach fireworks event will happen on Thursday, July 3, 2014 from 4 p.m.-10 p.m. at the North Tahoe Event Center. Preferred Seating is $12 per ticket and is available online at July-3-seating@EventBrite.com

This year there will be food, a beer garden (must be 21+ years), music, games, live entertainment, glow toys, and souvenirs.

There will also be Free Contests – Sand Castle Building, Patriotic Costumes, and Watermelon Eating!

Once the sun sets there will be a wonderful fireworks display over Lake Tahoe. If one night of magic in the sky over Lake Tahoe is not enough for you to celebrate America’s Birthday, plan on being over in Tahoe City on Friday night, July 4, 2014 to watch their 4th of July Fireworks display!

We have so many fun, great events going on this holiday weekend, it will be hard to do them all!

Summer time in Lake Tahoe is always a special time of year, so if you haven’t made plans to come up to the North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area, now is the time to take a good look at your calendar and plan a trip up here and enjoy all that North Shore of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding area has to offer.

Kings Beach Free Summer Movies – Summer Schedule 2014

Monday nights this Summer are about to get better with the 2014 Free Outdoor Movies on the Beach in Kings Beach, California.

If you haven’t started making your summer plans to be here in North Lake Tahoe, now is the time! One of the free events that will be on my list this of things to do this summer will be to go to one of the free movies on the beach in downtown Kings Beach at the North Tahoe Regional Park on Monday nights.

I’ve been to the outdoor movies on the beach in downtown Tahoe City on Commons Beach, and in Squaw Valley at the Village, but I’ve missed out on the Kings Beach movies, but not this year!

Can you think of a better way to start your week off than by taking in a free summer movie on the shores of Lake Tahoe in Kings Beach every Monday beginning at the third week in June and going until the middle of August?

This free eight week movie series will offer a variety of films all ages will enjoy. You’ll find the free Kings Beach movies at the Kings Beach State Recreation area beginning at 7 p.m. All of the movies are either G, PG or PG-13. Here is the 2014 movie schedule presented by the North Lake Tahoe Public Utility Department:

While all movies are FREE, if you park in the North Tahoe Regional Park you will need to pay the parking fee.

The free summer movies in Kings Beach at the North Tahoe Regional Park are all subject to good weather conditions. For inclement weather information -Tune to KTKE Radio (101.5fm) for the 5p.m. announcements for the movies.

Here are some Movie Going Tips. Movie Attendees are encouraged to bring the following:

Only low back chairs. If you bring a high back chair you will have to sit on the side, or in the very back.
Bring sleeping bags, beach towels, and blanket if you’ll be directly on the beach/ground. Remember the ground/beach can be damp, so make sure you have the right things to put down on the ground for an enjoyable evening.
Bring blankets and jackets (our summer evening and nights can become cool and if a breeze comes up off the lake, things will cool down quickly).
The fun starts around 7 p.m. so come early for food and to watch them set up the movie screen, and watch the incredible alpenglow over Lake Tahoe before the movie begins!
You are allowed to bring your own snacks, so if you’re on a diet, you can still stay on track and enjoy the movie, but it’s also nice to support the local vendors.
Movies begin at dusk.
Bring a flashlight so you can make sure you’ve packed everything up and have a nice light to walk back to your car when the movie is over.

Come out and enjoy a wonderful evening in Kings Beach out underneath the stars and watch a free movie on the beaches of Lake Tahoe this summer!

Ribfest, BBQ and Fundraiser, Truckee, Sunday, June 15, 2014

The 5^th Annual Truckee Ribfest, BBQ, and Fundraiser for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Truckee-Tahoe will happen this Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at the Tri-Counties Bank Plaza in Truckee, California.

If you love BBQ, Ribs, a Beer Garden, Music, and Classic Cars, the 5^th Annual Ribfest and BBQ in Truckee, CA is the place for you to be this weekend!

There will be entertainment, a kid’s corner, arts and crafts and lots of great food, not to mention a raffle to raise money for the Truckee-Tahoe’s American Cancer Society’s Relay of Life group.

This is a fun, local Tahoe event and this year the theme is Ribs, Rods & Rock-n-Roll. I can already smell the sweet smell of BBQ smoke in the air that promises mouth-watering delights! What can I say; food just seems to be better when it’s eaten outdoors here in the Truckee area!

In addition to the Ribfest and BBQ, there will be classic cars, local rock-n-roll bands, a beer garden and children’s activities. It’s a wonderful combination of BBQ, music, and festival fun! Can you think of a better way to enjoy a June Sunday afternoon in Truckee?

The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Truckee-Tahoe will be held July 19-20 at the Truckee High School East-West Field for 24 hours. It’s an event dedicated to those touched by cancer.
