Drive-In Movies at the Homewood Ski Resort – 2015 ScheduleNew this year on Saturday nights is the Drive-In Movie Theater at the Homewood Ski Resort Parking Lot in Homewood, California!

I don’t want to date myself, but I do remember how fun it was to go to the Drive-In Movie Theater during the summer months.  

Yes, most of the drive-in theaters are long gone, but the Homewood Ski resort has figured out a way to bring them back for your summer enjoyment here on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe.

This year the Homewood Ski Resort will be opening their doors at 7 p.m. and will offer a limited number of tickets to see the show, which will begin at dusk (8 – 8:30 p.m.)

Drive-In Movies at the Homewood Ski Resort – 2015 ScheduleThey have a twenty-seven (27) foot screen that will be set up in the parking lot.  Tickets are $15/car, but they will also allow walk-ins, or bike-ins too at no charge with limited seating.  Movie goers are encouraged to bring their own chairs for outdoor seating if you don’t want to stay in your car, or if you bike/walk in.

There are no outside drinks, food, or dogs allowed.  The concession stand will be open so you can still enjoy the evening with refreshments!

Here are some of my Outdoor Drive-In Movie Going Tips. 

Movie Attendees are encouraged to bring the following:

  • Yes, you’ll have your car for seating, but you may want to sit outside of your car, so bring your camping chairs.  If you open the back end of your SUV, or want to sit in the back of a truck, make sure you have blankets and pillows to make things comfortable for the show.
  • Bring sleeping bags, beach towels, or blankets if you’ll be on the ground.  
  • Bring blankets and jackets (our summer evening and nights will are cool and if a breeze comes up off the lake things will feel really cold fast).
  • Doors open at 7 p.m. You can pre-purchase your tickets on-line.  Come early for food and a beverage and watch the incredible alpenglow over Lake Tahoe before the movie begins!
  • No out-side food, or drinks.  There will be a refreshments and snacks available for purchase.
  • No Dogs.
  • Movies begin at dusk (8-8:30 pm.).
  • Bring a flashlight so when the movie is over you can make sure you’ve packed everything up, or to walk over to the concession stand and bathrooms.

Looking for more outdoor movies to see this summer?

This year you’ll have at least five different opportunities during the week to watch an outdoor movies in the greater North Lake Tahoe area, starting with Monday nights in Tahoe Vista at the Tahoe Vista Recreational Park.  , Tuesday nights at the West Shore Cafe in Homewood, CA, Wednesday night at Commons Beach in Downtown Tahoe City, and Thursday nights at the Village at Squaw Valley! and now on Saturday nights the Drive-In Theater at the Homewood Ski Resort!

While you may have already seen the movie that is being shown there is still something special about watching a movie out under the stars in Lake Tahoe is what our lifestyle is all about!

If you’ll be up on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe (Rubicon Bay, Meeks Bay, Tahoma, Homewood, Tahoe City), or any where close to this area, be sure to see at least one summer beach on the lawn, or at the Drive-In Theater this year.

Movies on the Lawn, West Shore Cafe, Homewood – 2015 ScheduleNew this year, are movies on the lawn at the West Shore Cafe in Homewood, California.

While the North Shore of Lake Tahoe has had several free different movies locations on the beach, this year, the West Shore Cafe will have their own free summer movies series out on their lawn, just steps from the edge of Lake Tahoe.

This year you’ll have at least four different opportunities during the week to watch a free outdoor movies in the greater North Lake Tahoe area, starting with Monday nights in Tahoe Vista at the Tahoe Vista Recreational Park.  , Tuesday nights at the West Shore Cafe in Homewood, CA, Wednesday night at Commons Beach in Downtown Tahoe City, and Thursday nights at the Village at Squaw Valley!

Summer-time in Lake Tahoe is what our lifestyle is all about and watching a movie outdoors on the beach, or in this case lawn is a fun thing to do!

The West Shore Cafe is taking our outdoor movies to a whole new level with a full bar, wine and beer available for sale, along with some other concessions.  

Doors open at 7 p.m. so bring your blankets, and lawn chairs and get ready for a wonderful evening of entertainment.

The West Shore Cafe movies will begin at dusk so get there early to get a good spot, have a beverage, and snack!

Here are some of my Outdoor Beach Movie Going Tips.  Movie Attendees are encouraged to bring the following:

  • If you can bring a low back chair, but any type of lawn chair will do.  If you bring a high back chair be considerate and plan to sit on the side, or in the very back of the viewing area.
  • Bring sleeping bags and beach towels if you’ll be on the lawn.  Remember the lawn can and will most likely be damp, so make sure you have the right things to put down on the lawn for an enjoyable evening.
  • Bring blankets and jackets (our summer evening and nights will become cool and if a breeze comes up off the lake things will really cool down fast).
  • Doors open at 7 p.m. and you’ll find the lawn area to the right of the West Shore Cafe building.  Come early for food and a beverage and watch the incredible alpenglow over Lake Tahoe before the movie begins!

Homewood Fine Arts and Crafts Fair, July 3 – 5, 2015It’s that time of year when we’re lucky enough to have the Arts and Crafts Fairs return to the North Lake Tahoe area.  

If you’ll be up here in the greater Homewood area for the 4th of July holiday weekend, don’t forget to check out the Fine Arts and Crafts Fair on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe this weekend.

You’ll find unique crafts, art, and jewelry at the Pacific Fine Arts and Crafts festival this weekend, July 3 – 5, 2015 at the Homewood Ski Resort parking lot.

I know there are a lot of things to do over the 4th of July holiday weekend, but if you like to shop, or just want a little me time this smaller fine arts and crafts event in a nice way to spend an hour.  I know you’ll enjoy going from booth to booth looking for that special piece of art, pottery, jewelry, trinket, or unique item that will remind you of your trip to Lake Tahoe.

This is always a great opportunity to talk one-on-one with many of the artists that made the creation and learn the story, or inspiration for the piece.  

You’ll find jewelry, paintings, pottery, glassware, clothing, and so much more.  You’ll discover some amazing treasures here in Lake Tahoe. Located at the Homewood Ski Resort, 5441, West Lake Blvd., Homewood, California, you’ll want to stop and see all of the items for sale.  

The Fine Arts and Crafts Fair in Homewood is free to the public.

Fine Arts and Crafts Fair, Homewood, July 4 – 7, 2013If you’ll be up here in the greater Homewood area during the month of August 2014, don’t forget to check out the Homewood Fine Arts and Crafts Fair on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe .

You’ll find amazing artists and unique crafts and jewelry at the Homewood Fine Arts and Crafts Fair this August 8-10, 22-24 and 29-31 at the Homewood Ski Resort parking lot.

I went to this arts and crafts fair over this past 4th of July and while it is event is smaller, I really did enjoy going from booth to booth looking at the art, pottery, jewelry, trinket, or other unique items, many of which have a Lake Tahoe influence.

If you’ll be up in Lake Tahoe on any of the upcoming weekends this August, make sure you check out the local arts festival here in Homewood, CA.  This will be a great opportunity to get wonderful souvenir of your summer trip here in Lake Tahoe.

Even if you’re not looking to buy, you’ll still enjoy admiring the raw talent it takes to create an original work of art.  You’ll find jewelry, paintings, pottery, glassware, clothing, and so much more.

You’ll find amazing artists and unique crafts and jewelry at the Pacific Fine Arts and Crafts festival this coming weekend, July 4, 5,  and 6th, 2014 at the Homewood Ski Resort parking lot.

I went last year and while it is a smaller fine arts and crafts event, I really enjoyed going from booth to booth looking for the special piece of art, pottery, jewelry, trinket, or unique item that will remind me later of the 4th of July weekend here in Lake Tahoe.

Call me sentimental, but I like looking around my rooms and seeing the special items that remind me of a vacation trip, a special friend, or a summer day here in Lake Tahoe.
