Santa’s Party, Granlibakken Ski Resort – Tahoe City, California Come out and have some winter fun with Santa, at Santa’s Party this Saturday, December 14, 2013!  Santa will arrive in style, on his fire truck at the Tahoe City Winter Sports Park in Tahoe City tomorrow morning!

The Rotary Club of Tahoe City and the Tahoe City Public Utility District will be hosting its 14th Annual Santa’s Party and it should be a lot of fun for everyone.  All children ages pre-school to 9 years old are invited for a day of free sledding, along with a pancake breakfast and Santa will be handing out gifts.  You may remember this past event as Sledding with Santa, so get ready to have some winter fun!

Santa will make a grand entrance, and the North Tahoe High School Jazz Band will play holiday music, along with Christmas caroling.

In addition to getting to talk with Santa, there will be live music, along with warm drinks and pancakes.

Where: Tahoe City Winter Sports Park (Also known as the Tahoe City Golf Course in the summer),

When:  Saturday, December 14, 2013 – 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

An Elegant Affair – Tahoe City, California November 22, 2013Each year on the Friday evening the week before the Thanksgiving Day holiday weekend, the Elegant Affair has been held in Tahoe City, California.  It’s one of those annual traditions that unofficially kicks off the holidays for me in the North Lake Tahoe area.

This year the 37th Annual Elegant Affair event will happen on Friday, November 22, 2013 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Boatworks Mall in downtown Tahoe City, California.

The North Tahoe Boosters organization puts on a wonderful evening of tasting fine wines, beers, and gourmet hor d’oeuvres to raise money for the North Tahoe High and Middle School Athletics.   There is also a silent auction and 100% of the events proceeds will go to support the North Tahoe Boosters and their programs.

The North Tahoe Boosters support Tahoe’s local sports programs.  They cover the costs for many items like uniforms, equipment, travel expenses, and without their financial support, many programs would just not happen.   They also give out annual scholarships to seniors who have participated in sports at North Tahoe, so their support of the local Tahoe youth occurs on many levels.

An Elegant Affair is held inside at the Boatworks Mall with wine, beer, and local restaurants set-up tasting stations around the mall on both the first and second levels. Holiday wear is encouraged and black tie is optional!

I’ve attended this event over the years, and I can tell you it’s a wonderful evening.  It’s fun to dress up and see old friends, meet new people and between the wine tasting, enjoying an array of interesting appetizers from local restaurants, don’t be surprised if you find yourself swaying, or dancing to the live Jazz music this year by Remmel Wilson.

Did I mention shopping?  Don’t forget to bring your checkbooks because you’re going to find some great silent auction items to bid on.  What could be more fun than wine tasting and shopping at a silent auction and all for a great cause?

This year the event organizers will have nineteen (19) local Tahoe-Truckee restaurants and twenty-nine (29) fine wineries and breweries.  If you love wine tasting and are looking for a way to kick-off your holiday season while supporting a good local organizations this is the event for you.

When:  Friday, November 22, 2013, Starting at 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Where:  Boatworks Mall, 760 North Lake Blvd., Tahoe City, California

Cost:  $55 Ticket / $90 per Couple.  Special pricing for Teaches and Coaches at $55 per Couple

This event sells out each year, so get your tickets now.  You can purchase tickets on line at www.NorthTahoeBoosters.org (online sales will stop at 4 p.m. on the day of the event), or in person at Rosie’s Café, The Store, or at the door at the Boatworks Mall on the day of the event beginning at 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.

Annual Harvest Festival and Pumpkin Patch, Tahoe City, Oct 19, 2013It’s that time of year when pumpkins, scare crows, and fall magic surrounds Lake Tahoe. If you’ll be up in the greater Tahoe City area on Saturday, October 19, 2013, be sure to take some time to be at the Annual Harvest Festival and Pumpkin Patch holiday event here in Tahoe City, California.

This year the Tahoe City Annual Harvest Fall Festival and Pumpkin Patch event will take place at the Rideout Community Center on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe in the Timberland neighborhood from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  This is a great, local Tahoe City community event that will be fun for all ages.

There will be several local community groups with fun activities, along with selling snacks and lunch. The children will have a great time with carnival games, pony rides, jumping in the bounce house, face painting, costume contest,  and so much more!  Did I mention the Pumpkin Seed Hunt starts at 11:30 a.m.?

If you missed some of the other fun North Lake Tahoe fall events, or the local Oktoberfest’s earlier this month, you still have a chance to enjoy some fall fun here in the greater Tahoe City area at the Harvest Festival and Pumpkin Patch event.

Harvest Festival and Pumpkin Patch

When: Saturday, October 19, 2013, Starting at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Pumpkin Seed Hunt starts at 11:30 a.m.

Where: Rideout Community Center, 740 Timberland Drive, Tahoe City, CA

Cost: Activity bracelet $15; Pumpkin Prices will vary. Food and drinks are an additional fee and will vary depending on the item.

Tahoe City Grill Fest, Tahoe City, Saturday, October 12, 2013 Get ready to celebrate the inaugural Tahoe City Grill Fest on Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at the Boatworks Mall and Tahoe City Marina in downtown Tahoe City, California.

Our Lake Tahoe fall days are sunny and having a BBQ outside is still going to be fun at this time of year.  A $10 entry fee will get you into the fun and will include your first beverage, live music, and voting token.

The Tahoe City Grill fest will give BBQ competitors a chance to show locals why they are the best.  Those competing are Big Blue Q, Dockside 700, Hacienda, Jakes on the Lake, and Men Wielding Fire.  There will be several categories including Best Ribs, Best Chicken, Best Tri-Tip and the Open Category (do you think someone will win with a vegetarian, or dessert entry?).

There will be judges, but attendees will also get to vote.  Live music is provided by Sacramento favorite Mental Floss, and for those that like an ice cold beer with their BBQ, you’ll have a choice of Coors, Blue Moon, and Fat Tire.  For those that like wine, Barefoot will be there too, along with soft drinks. It should be a great day of fun for everyone.

Be sure to dress in layers and wear sunblock.  In the sun you’ll be nice and warm, but as soon as you are in the shade you’ll wish you had a jacket, and you’ll be glad you wore sunscreen!

The leaves have changed color here in Lake Tahoe and it’s your chance to enjoy our beautiful fall weather, while having some fun at the first Tahoe City Grill Festival this weekend!

Tahoe City Grape Stomp, Tahoe City, CA September 6, 2013 Fall is in the air here in here in Tahoe City, and that means it’s time for the 28th Annual Lake Tahoe Autumn Food and Wine event and their grape stomping event in Tahoe City!  If you’ll be up in the greater Tahoe City area on Friday 6, 2013, be sure and stop by the Tahoe City Grape Stomp event.

The fun begins at 5 p.m. at the Cobblestone Mall in downtown Tahoe City and teams of four will compete and stomp their way to the winners circle!

It’s not too late to put your team of four together if you want to stomp grapes!  The entry fee for the grape stomping contest is $25/person. If you don’t see yourself with grape juice squeezing through your toes, you don’t have to stomp grapes to have fun at the event.  Everyone is welcome to come out, cheer on your favorites, and listen to live music.

     When:  Friday, September 6, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

     Where: Cobblestone Mall, Downtown Tahoe City, California

     Cost: Free to those that are just watching – no admission charge.

The cost to entry the Grape Stomp event is $25/per person – teams of four or three people
