Our seasons have changed!  Looking at our mountains, they are now covered in fresh snow, and that means our next big winter sports season 2024-2025 is almost ready to start!

If you love to cross country ski, or spend time in the backcountry, then the Tahoe City cross country ski swap is your kind of event!

This is California’s largest cross country (XC) ski swap event and it happens the second weekend in November of each year!

This year it will be Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tahoe Cross Country facility at 925 Country Club Drive in Tahoe City, CA!

Admission is a suggested $10/donation for buyers, which will get you entry and the proceeds are supporting the TCCSEA Youth Programs. 

This is your opportunity to find some great deals on new and used equipment and help support our local Tahoe Cross-Country Ski Education Association program.

Our world-class ski resorts are getting ready for another great winter season, and so should you!  Now is the time to check out your winter sports equipment and take advantage of the XC Ski Swap event in Tahoe City, CA, Saturday, November 9, 2024.

What will you find?  How about boots, poles, snowshoes, clothing, accessories, skate and classic, telemark and light touring gear just to name a few items. 

If you haven’t tried out cross country skiing, this is a great way to pick up all of the equipment you’ll need at a fraction of the cost!

Our temperatures have dropped, and before you know we’ll have snow on the ground in Tahoe City!  Our winter sports venues will all be open again, so now is the time to take advantage of this large XC Ski Swap event. 

Need another reason to shop?  This is a fundraiser for the Tahoe XC Ski Education Association so you’re getting a two-for-one by shopping and supporting this local group.

Here are the details of event:

XC Ski Swap – Tahoe City 2023

  • When:  9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2024
  • Where:  Tahoe Cross Country Lodge | 925 County Club Drive, Tahoe City, CA 96145
    • Directions:  On Hwy 28 near the 7-Eleven at Dollar Point, take Fabian Way on the north side of the highway, right on Village Road, which has the sign to the entrance to the Highlands neighborhood on the corner, veer to the right then take a left onto Country Club Drive about 3 miles NE from downtown Tahoe City.  The Tahoe XC center will be on your left.  Look for all of the cars!
  • Admission Cost – A $10 donation is suggested.  Just a FYI, they will limit the number of shoppers to twenty-five (25) at any given time, so be patient if you get there and you have to wait to get in!

Despite the rain and cooler weather earlier this week, this weekend we will have great weather for the Tahoe City Oktoberfest in Tahoe City, California on Saturday, October 21, 2024.

It’s time to get dressed up in your Lederhosen and enjoy a fun, fall weekend here in Tahoe City at the annual Oktoberfest – 2024! 

This event has been held in several different locations over the years, including the Cobblestone Mall, the Gatekeeper’s Museum (also known as Layton Park), and at Commons Beach.

This year, you’ll find this classic fall event at the Gatekeeper’s Museum (Layton Park), right next door to the Truckee River Outlet on CA Highway 89 South, across from the Bridge Tender restaurant!

Things have cooled down here in the Tahoe City area, but this weekend promises to offer sunshine and day time temperatures in the high 60’s low 70’s!

The leaves are turning color, and it will feel like fall here Tahoe City, so if you are looking for that change in the season from summer to fall, you’ll feel that change here in the greater North Lake Tahoe area this weekend!

I can’t think of a better way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon than by being by the edge of Lake Tahoe in downtown Tahoe City, Calfornia!

Live music, having an ice cold beer, and watching those who are brave enough to dress up in Bavarian themed clothing just adds to the fun!

In addition to live music, beer on tap, games, there will also be brats and other German BBQ food items to puchase.

Even if beer and brats aren’t your thing, just spending the afternoon outside here in Tahoe City is a winning ticket!

  • Where: Gateskeeper’s Museum | 130 West Lake Blvd., Tahoe City, CA
  • Event Activities: Brews, Games, Food, Live Music, Dancing, and Crafts
  • Cost:  Individual costs will vary by event, food item, and beverage product.  Must be 21+ for Beer, or Wine. 
  • A $25/ticket will get you a commemorative event glass with two drink tickets.

Ho, ho ho!  It’s that time of year to celebrate the holidays! 

This Saturday, December 7, 2019, in Tahoe City, California, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. is the Rotary Club of Tahoe City and the Tahoe City Public Utility District annual Santa’s Party!

A Tahoe holiday party is a lot of winter fun.  Add in Santa, and a hot breakfast, along with winter sporting activities like ice skating and sledding and you have a party with Santa.

This event will be held at the Tahoe City Winter Sports Park (also home to the Tahoe City Golf Course in the summer) will be the location of this fun holiday event!

Santa will arrive in style, on his fire truck at the Tahoe City Winter Sports Park  in downtown Tahoe City.

After he arrives, you’ll enjoy a pancake breakfast, cookie decorating, arts and crafts, ice skating, sledding, and gifts from Santa for those children up to the age of ten (10)!

In addition to getting to talk with Santa, there will be music, along with warm drinks and food.

The Rotary Club of Tahoe City and the Tahoe City Public Utility District are able to put this annual event on with a lot of help from the local community. 

A special thanks goes out to: Sierra Sun, SaveMart,  Tahoe Truckee Lumber, Geared for Games, Cafe Zenon, The Tahoe City Winter Sports Park, The Truckee Highway Patrol, The Placer County Sheriff’s Department, and the North Tahoe Fire Department.

This is the fourth year that the Tahoe City area has had a seasonal ice rink, which is now open at the Winter Sports Park, so there will be a lot of fun winter activities and things to do this year.

Santa’s Party is open to the entire North Lake Tahoe community, and it’s free, so come out and enjoy a little holiday fun.

An Elegant Affair – Tahoe City 2019This year is the 43 rd Annual An Elegant Affair, which is a local fund-raiser for the North Tahoe Boosters Club  and it will be held on Friday, November 22, 2019 in downtown Tahoe City!

This is an annual event you can count on!

Each year on the Friday evening before the week of  Thanksgiving, the holiday season begins with the annual “An Elegant Affair” event in the greater North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area.

It’s one of those charity – fundraising events that I look forward to each year.  It’s fun to get dressed-up and run into old friends, neighbors and past clients that you haven’t seen since the busy days of summer.

It’s a great way to start the holiday season.  This event brings together a variety of wines to taste, and appetizers made from some of the North Lake Tahoe areas best area restaurants and catering companies and I’m ready to enjoy the last few weeks of 2019.

This year the 43th Annual Elegant Affair event will happen on Friday, November 22, 2019 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Boatworks Mall in downtown Tahoe City, California.

The North Tahoe Boosters organization puts on a wonderful evening of tasting fine wines, beers, and gourmet appetizers to raise money for the North Tahoe High and Middle School Athletics.

There is also a silent auction and 100% of the events proceeds will go to support the North Tahoe Boosters and their programs.

You many not know how much hard work and effort the North Tahoe Boosters Club does to support the local Tahoe’s area sports programs, but as school budgets have been cut back, many costs fall back onto the students and their families and the Boosters help cover that budget gap.

The North Tahoe Boosters Club helps cover the costs for many items like uniforms, equipment, travel expenses, and without their financial support, many programs would just not happen.

This is your opportunity to be a part of helping others have those same types of after-school experiences by supporting this excellent fund-raising event.

In addition to the after-school programs, the NT Boosters also give out annual scholarships to seniors who have participated in sports at North Tahoe, so their support of the local Tahoe youth occurs on many levels.

This annual event, An Elegant Affair, is held inside at the Boatworks Mall on both levels with wine, beer, and local restaurants setting up tasting stations around the mall.

Holiday wear is encouraged and black tie is optional, but the truth is, in Tahoe City, resort holiday wear can include jeans and a favorite sweater!  Don’t let the dress code keep you from showing up at this great, local event!

I’ve attended this event over the years, and it’s always been a lot of fun.
