Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe Celebrity Comedy Night, March 21, 2015If you love your pets, like we love our dogs, and you like to laugh, get ready for an evening of comedy while supporting the local Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe at their 9th Annual Celebrity Comedy Night, a fund raising event, this Saturday, March 21, 2015 starting at 7:45 p.m. (Doors Open) with the event kicking off a 8:30 p.m. at the Truckee Community Arts Center in Downtown Historic Truckee, California

If you’ll be up in the greater Truckee – Lake Tahoe area for an early spring weekend, this event promises to be a lot of fun for you.

This should be a wonderful evening of entertainment with Celebrity Comedians Rocky LaPorte, Mike Pace, along with host Rick D’Elia!

If you’re not familiar with who these very funny men are here’s a brief summary for each one:

Rocky LaPorte was a top 5 finisher in the NBC program ‘Last Comic Standing’ (Craig and I watched him while he was on this program, and he really is very funny).  Rocky has also appeared in numerous TV Shows including ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ and ‘Comedians Unleashed’, just to name a few of his recent TV appearances.

Mike Pace has done stand-up comedy for over twenty-five (25) years and performed at HBO’s ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ and ‘Comedians Unleashed’.  He has also performed eleven (11) times for the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, just to mention a few of his accomplishments.

Rick D’Elia will be the host for this evening of laughter.  Rick has appeared on ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’, Comedy Central. ‘Comedians Unleashed’, Grand Slam Comedy Jam, National Lampoon’s Funny Money and Starz/Encore’s West Coast Comedy.

This is your chance to be in a very intimate audience setting (only about 200 tickets will be available for this event) and enjoy these national celebrity comedians at their very best, and with a ticket price of just $25/person, what a deal!  If you haven’t ordered your tickets I would not wait this event will sell out before show time!

  • Cost:  Tickets – $25/person (Special two-for-one pricing if you are going to the Truckee Rotary Club Annual Crab Feed – just show your tickets or call 530-587-5948 for the special promotion)
  • To purchase tickets, or for more information call 530- 87-5948, or go to www.HSTT.org and use their PayPal Option.  If you use PayPal (which we did to purchase our tickets for this event) you’ll need to pick up your ticket at Will Call.  Tickets at will call will be under the name of the person who purchased the tickets
  • Beer and Wine Available for an Extra Fee, must be 21+ for Adult beverages.  Just an FYI, no food will be served at this event.

This amazing Tahoe event that will bring in world-class entertainers into our area has been made possible by Diana Alouise, Author, Comedian, and Hairstylist, who is the producer of this event.  Diana is also the owner of Shampoo Hair & Makeup Studio in Truckee, CA!  What a great supporter of the local Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe!

14th Annual Spaghetti Dinner - Sierra Senior Services, Jan 31, 2015The 14th Annual Spaghetti Dinner, BINGO, and Silent Auction will be held in Truckee, CA on Saturday, January 31, 2015.

This Saturday evening doors will open at 5 p.m. at the Truckee Community Center with dinner severed at 6 p.m. and BINGO following at 7 p.m.

You’ll also be able to bid on silent auction items in addition to having a fun evening of food and games!

This fund-raising event that will benefit the Sierra Senior Services program has sold out for the past seven years, so get your tickets now available on-line at www.SierraSeniors.org, or at the Sierra Senior Services Center, or at Plumas Bank in Truckee, CA.

Sierra Senior Services feeds and supports Seniors in the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee Communities.  Senior Meals on Wheels is a non-profit organization that provides meals to qualified senior citizens age 60+.  While I was on their website: www.SierraSeniors.org I learned the following:

  • Sierra Senior Services (non-profit group that oversees the Meals on Wheels program) only get 30% of their funding from the government.  That means 70% of the annual budget comes from fundraising activities and private donations.
  • In North Lake Tahoe and Truckee, California area 75% of the home delivered meal recipients live alone.
  • In Nevada County (Most of Truckee is located in Nevada County, California) 62% of the home delivered meal recipients are over the age of 80.
  • Over 88% of the home delivered meal recipients rely solely on Social Security.
  • Approximately 54% of the recipients are disabled.
  • A $75 donation will help feed a senior for a week.

Big Blue BayouLooking to have some fun this Sunday evening?  If you are, check out the Big Blue Bayou fund raiser benefiting the Sierra Senior Services at the exclusive Martis Camp Lookout Lodge in Truckee, California, today, Sunday, September 14 2014!

The Big Blue Bayou is one of the largest fund raisers for the Sierra Senior Services Meals on Wheels program.  This evening of fun will feature a Cajon Style dinner,  cooking demonstrations, an auction, live music by the Blues Monsters in a wonderful outdoor setting at the Martis Camp Lookout Lodge in the luxury gated community of Martis Camp in Truckee, CA just north of the Northstar Ski Resort area.
