Truckee Ski and snowboard Swap 2023Don’t miss the 40th Annual Truckee Ski and Snowboard Swap, Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the Truckee Community Recreation Center (10981 Truckee Way) in Truckee, California.

If you’re in the greater North Lake Tahoe – Truckee, California area this weekend, his is the winter sports equipment event for you!

Admission is free for all ages, and the event is from 11 a.m. today until 4 p.m. today!

We’ve already seen our first dustining of snow this past October, and it is looking like we are headed for another big winter season here in the Truckee – North Lake Tahoe area, so this is a great way to get newer equipment at a fraction of the price.

You’ll find local representatives from Tahoe ski shops and the nearby ski resorts on hand to answer to your questions.  

If you’re looking for winter clothing, ski equipment, boots, boards, poles, hats, gloves, accessories, and items you probably never thought of but could really use, you’ll find it here.

This event is sponsored by the Truckee-Donner Recreation and Park District.

Made in Tahoe Festival - Olympic Valley 2023It’s Fall here in the greater North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area and if you are looking for something to do, check out the Made in Tahoe Festival – Olympic Valley 2023, today, Saturday, October 7, 2023 and tomorrow, October 8, 2023 at the Village at Palisades Tahoe!

Our Fall weather this weekend will be sunny, with temperatures in the low to mid-60’s.  

You’ll need to dress in layers as it will be warm in the sunshine, but it will feel cool if it becomes breeezy, or in the shade. 

I like this local event as the items sold are either made in the local Lake Tahoe Basin – greater Truckee area, or they are inspired by our local beauty.

You’ll find this festival is loaded with arts, crafts, exhibits, music, entertainment, and local food and drink vendors, in addition to the Village restaurants, bars, and shops to choose from, and the admission to the event is FREE!

The annual Made in Tahoe event will give you the chance to shop local and enjoy being up here in the North Lake Tahoe area.

It’s a great way to find that special gift for that hard-to-please loved-one, or a way to treat yourself, along with supporting Tahoe artisans and businesses!

Along with shopping the vendors, eating and drinking that you can do, you’ll also enjoy listening to variety of local music all day long!

You’ll find jewelry, paintings, pottery, glassware, clothing, and so much more! You never know what you’ll find at our local fairs and festivals so you won’t want to miss this one.

The Made in Tahoe event is a fun way to kick-off your holiday shopping, and it is your opportunity to enjoy one of our last outdoor festivals of the season!

If you don’t have plans for this weekend, think about making a last minute drive up to the greater North Lake Tahoe – Olympic Valley area and check out this two day event Made in Tahoe Festival this Saturday and/or Sunday.

Tahoe Backyard Makers Market Kings Beach 2023Labor Day has come and gone, and as our Fall weather sets in, you’ll have one last chance to check out the Tahoe Backyard Makers Market 2023, in Kings Beach, California this Saturday, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., September 9, 2023.

This is the last weekend for this season, and it’s your chance to find that special gift among the art and crafter booths for that special someone on your list, or to find something just for you!

Maybe you just want to get out and about and enjoy something to drink, can you say craft brews?  Or just get a bite to eat, while enjoying some local entertainment and doing some people watching. 

It doesn’t matter what your reason is, this local event is fun and easy to enjoy!

Our weather is expected to be sunny, with temperatures in the high 60’s low 70’s, but once the sun goes behind a cloud, or beings to set, or as the evening comes on, it will cool off quicky, so wear layers and make sure to have a light jacket or sweater!

This event, unlike many of our local Kings Beach events, which happen on Main street, this one is at 8428 Trout Avenue, which is right behind the Bank of the West Building, that you’ll see on the main street in downtown Kings Beach, but is right behind it.

I like this local event as many of the items sold are often made right here in the Lake Tahoe Basin – greater Truckee area, or they are inspired by our local beauty by a vendor who lives near our area.

While it pains me to say this, the holidays and gift giving season is right around the corner, and this may be an opportunity to find a gift for that hard-to-please friend, or a way to treat yourself  along with supporting small businesses and artisans!

1st Fridays Tahoe City Outdoor Artisan Market – 2023

Did you know during our warmer weather, downtown Tahoe City on the first Friday of July, August, September and October has an open-air Artisan Market? 

This event started after the pandemic, and was a way for artists to gather and showcase their unique works for sale.  Add in some live music, and food vendors and you have a great, small local event!

Art, glass work, jewelry, and other hand-crafted items are some of the treasures you will find at this event.

It’s never to early to start shopping for that unique holiday gift, or for those special items to decorate you Tahoe home!

These monthly events create the opportunity to find unique and special pieces, that capture a moment in time – a place, a season, and for anyone spending time in our area, something to remember the your day in Tahoe of 2023!

Even if you’re not in the shopping mood, you will enjoy being outside in beautiful downtown Tahoe City.  

After shopping at the outdoor Artisian Market, perhaps an early dinner, or cool beverage at one of the local restaurants will round out your day.

If you enjoy listening to Bluegrass music, then you’ll want to add this event to your summer calendar!

On Friday, August 4, 2023 on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe at the Sugar Pine Point State Park  in Tahoma, California will be the Big Bluegrass Benefit Concert!

The Sierra State Park Foundation is presenting this benefit fundraising concert for the upkeep at Sugar Pine Point State Park.

They have three popular Bluegrass Bands lined up to play at the event:

Craig and I have gone to this event in the past and we had a great time!  

What a great way to spend a summer evening!  Who doesn’t enjoy being outdoors and sipping on a cold beverage, while listening to some great Bluegrass music with our beautiful mountains, towering pine trees, the Alpen glow, with Lake Tahoe shinning through all of it?

If you’ll be up in the greater North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area on Friday, August 4, 2023, and you are looking for an enjoyable evening out, this event is for you!.

Sugar Pine Point State Park, Big Band Concert

When:

  • Doors open at 4 p.m.
  • Event: Music starts at 5 p.m. – until dark

  • Lake-side for this event, along with parking.

  • $40/Adult Pre-Sale On-line, $45/Adult at the door to purchase click here
  • Please no pets at this event.
  • Ticket Price does not include parking fee – see parking for more information. Parking is $10

Parking: $10/vehicle (you can pre-pay for parking too) | If you bike, or walk in there is no additional parking fee.  If you pre-pay, you must print your ticket and bring it with you to show to the kiosk.  No ticket, you’ll end up paying for it again.

Food and Beverages available for Sale (no outside food or drinks):

Concert goers Tips:

  • Bring your low-back chairs (if you bring high-back chairs, be prepared to be at the back, or on the sides).  The concert area is on the lawn that slopes down towards the lake.  Low-back chairs, or beach blankets will be best in this area.
  • Bring blankets and bring/wear something warm (dress in layers). Our days are hot, but in the shade, or if a breeze come up off the lake, you’ll want something warmer to wear as temperatures can drop quickly in our area.
  • Bring a Flashlight – There are no night street lights ,so when the concert is over you’ll want to find your way back to your car and check your area before you leave it, so bring a flashlight.
  • Parking – Parking is limited, so carpooling is encouraged, or use public transportation.
