Truckee Brew Fest – 2025

July is here and our summer season is one to be enjoyed!

Temperatures are soaring, which makes it the perfect match for a cool drink and more Tahoe fun!

This weekend the 18th Annual Truckee Brew Fest, will happen on Saturday, July 12, 2025!

We have a number of great local fund-raising events here in the greater North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area and the annual Truckee Brew Fest presented by the Truckee Optimist Club at the Truckee Regional Park in Truckee, California this Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. is one you don’t want to miss!

This annual beer tasting event promises to be even better than last year.  This year there will be a number of specialty brews from Northern California and Nevada breweries, live music, brats, food trucks and silent auction!

If you like to sample different local and regional beers, and you enjoy being outside soaking in our beautiful surroundings, while listening to great live music by The Blues Monsters, then this is the event for you!

It’s a wonderful combination of beer tasting, food, and my personal favorite, the thrill of a silent auction!  Shopping and drinking ice cold beer on a hot summer day.  Can you think of a better way to enjoy a Saturday afternoon  in Truckee?

You may not know that the Optimist Club of Truckee is a non-profit group that has several fund-raising events throughout the year.

This is a big fund-raiser event for the Truckee Optimist Club.  In the past, they have donated over $100,000 annually to scholarships, grants, and programs for our local Tahoe youth, so come out and support this organization!

Here are the details of the event:

Truckee Brew Fest – 2025

  • When:  Saturday, July 12, 2025
  • Where:  Truckee Regional Park
    • 10050 Brockway Road, just ½ mile south of downtown Truckee on Highway 267, Truckee, California 
  • Time:  1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Cost:  $55.20 per person in advance (includes processing fee), $60 per person at the door/gate (if any remain), subject to change.  Must be 21+ year of age. 
  • Entry includes all of your tastings during the event!
  • Non-Drinker/ Designated Drivers: $12.51/ticket (includes processing fee)
  • Plan ahead for a safe ride home!

  • Just as a friendly reminder – No Pets Allowed

We’re expecting a lot of sunshine, blue skies, and day time temperatures in the mid-high 80’s so plan ahead on what to wear so you can enjoy the entire afternoon outside!

Other festival goer tips:  wear comfortable shoes, wear your sunscreen, drink plenty of water (in addition to the beer tastings), and don’t forget your sunglasses, and/or a hat.

Designated Driver – Safe Ride Home:  Plan ahead to get to and from the event – safely.  

You know you’re going to have a lot of fun and you’ll be supporting a wonderful local organization, who is focused on raising funds for the local Tahoe youth.

Tahoe City 4th of July Celebration – 2025

The greater North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area is the place to be for the 4th of July!

It’s one of the biggest holiday weeks of the year here, and we are ready to celebrate!

Looking for a place to see the holiday fireworks?  Get ready as “the Boom is Back”!

The 77th annual Tahoe City Fireworks Show has returned!  Over the past few years we’ve had a drone show instead of the traditional fireworks show, but this year the boom, sizzle, and sparkle are back!

The return of the traditional fireworks show has been a private funding effort and donations are still being collected.  If you see a donation site, or want more information on how to donate, check out this webpage.

As an FYI – If you are looking for information on the 3rd of July in Kings Beach, California (all-day event with Fireworks), that event is no longer being held and they are doing more events over the Labor Day weekend.

We’ve seen both over the years the live fireworks and the drone show.  Both are impressive for different reasons, but thid\s year you’ll see the traditional fireworks show to celebrate America’s 249 birthday!   

An all-day celebration!  You will find local businesses hosting fun activities, or specials through-out the day.

  • Commons Beach:
  • 9:30 p.m.  Tahoe City Fireworks Show
  • 10 p.m.  4th of July Celebrations Conclude

The fireworks show will start at around 9:30 p.m.  Get there early to find your spot to watch the show!

The fireworks are launched from a floating barge on Lake Tahoe so you can watch the show from Commons Beach, a local downtown restaurant, or bring your boat and watch the show while being on Lake Tahoe!

If you are not a fan of larger crowds, and if you can find a spot to see the Tahoe City downtown area, and you’ll still have a good view of the fireworks even if it is from a distance.

You may not know that the Annual Tahoe City Drone Show Event is sponsored by a combination of private and business donations.

Tahoe City 4th of July Fireworks Show 2025!

If you go, plan head to find a parking space.  Be patience.  This is a packed event, so space will be limited the closer to event starting time.  In response to the challenges of finding a parking spot, shuttle buses will pick-up and return event goers!

New this year – shuttle buses!

4 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. | Olympic Valley Shuttle 

A bus will loop from Olympic Valley to the Tahoe City Transit Center starting at 4 p.m. The last return bus picks up in Tahoe City at 11:30 p.m. 

4 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. | West Shore Shuttle

A bus will loop from the West Shore to the Tahoe City Transit Center starting at 4 p.m. The last return picks up in Tahoe City at 11:30 p.m. 

Pick up locations: 

  • Granlibakken Tahoe | Front entrance to resort*
  • Sunnyside | TART pickup location in front of Sunnyside Lodge on Highway 89* 
  • Homewood | TART pickup location at West Shore Cafe*
  • *No on-site parking available

Northstar & Kings Beach Shuttles

Leave the parking stress behind and hop on the free TART Park and Ride shuttle from 4-11:30 p.m. The last return trip departs Tahoe City at 11:30 p.m. | tahoetruckeetransit.com

Northstar Park & Ride

  • Park at the Castle Peak lot at Northstar and catch a shuttle every 30 minutes to the Tahoe City Transit Center.

Kings Beach pickup 

  • A stop will be available in Kings Beach at the Safeway bus stop. 
  • NO on-site parking is available at the Safeway. This stop is for those walking from local neighborhoods or lodging properties to the pick up at the Safeway bus stop

Don’t forget to bring your folding beach chairs, dress in layers, just in case a cool breeze comes up, and bring a flashlight for after the event!

Celebrating the 4th of July in Lake Tahoe is a bucket list item for many people, so take advantage of our local events and come out and celebrate our national holiday here in Tahoe City, CA!

Truckee Thursdays – 2025

Truckee Thursdays – 2025

If it is a Thursday and you are in the greater Truckee – North Lake Tahoe, California area between late-June through early August, it’s time for a Truckee Thursday event night! 

Each year, thousands of locals and visitors have made this a summer tradition by attending the Truckee Thursday event in Downtown Historic Truckee between 5 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., and you’ll want to include it on your summer must-do list too!

You’ll find age-appropriate activities for everyone including a kid’s area, food trucks/vendors, local merchant promotions (restaurants, shops, services) beer garden (must be 21+ and over for alcohol drinks), and a street festival atmosphere with local vendor booths lined up and down the center of Downtown Historic Truckee providing a great shopping opportunity. 

Never been?  Think of this event as a large, fun, block party festival with live music, a beer garden, a lot of arts and crafts booths/vendors offering many wonderful items to consider buying, along with the local downtown Truckee shops and restaurants that will also be open for you to enjoy!  

We try to make it to this event at least a couple of times each season, and each time I go, I always walk away thinking that the greater Truckee and North Lake Tahoe area has the best local summer events!

Each year there are new vendors and things to try and experience. 

Don’t know where to start?  Look for beer tasting, wine and/or tea, coffee sampling, free live music, and a diverse selection of arts and crafts vendors to shop.  I try to get to the food court early to avoid the longer lines as the evening goes on, but you get there when you get there. 

These seasonal events really allow locals and visitors to easily enjoy the amazing Tahoe lifestyle our area has to offer everyone.  

The kick-off of Truckee Thursday this year will be Thursday, June 26, 2025, and the last one on is scheduled for Thursday, August 14, 2025, with summer hours from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  

If you haven’t made plans to be in our area, now is the time to book your summer vacation plans to be here!

This local weekly event is admission FREE for everyone (purchase items are an extra cost), so there’s no reason to not come and enjoy Truckee Thursdays!  

  • Event Goer Tip:  One of the best event-goer tips I can give to someone who has not been to a Truckee Thursday event before is to plan ahead for parking – be patient as you try to find a spot to park in, and don’t give up if you have to try several locations to get that parking spot, or use one of the shuttles at their designated pick-up/drop-off spots.

Parking in the downtown Truckee area is very limited, so one option is to take advantage of the free shuttle services.

Come hungry!  There is a good variety of food-service vendors and truck, along with food stands.  The earlier in the event the shorter the lines, so if you want to eat during prime time, be prepared to be patient and wait in line. 

In the past there have been more than eighty (80) different artisans, along with commercial and non-profit vendors.

It’s hard to know how many vendors this years’ event will have, so it is important to come out and support those that do come to the event.

Don’t forget there will also be year-around merchants, artists, and food vendors with all sorts of interesting, unique, and delicious goods to choose from.

  • Event Goer Tip:  Don’t forget to bring along your shopping bag.  California is a shopping bag free state, so plan ahead and bring your own recyclable bag so you can easily carry any items you purchase.

Summer Movies on the Beach Tahoe City 2025

You’ve seen the romantic comedy movies that always seem to have the main characters watch a movie in the park.  Fun right? 

So here is your opportunity to experience an outdoor movie, not in the park, but right on the water’s edge of beautiful Lake Tahoe!  

If you’ll be in the greater North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area on any Wednesday between June 25 through August 13, 2025, check out the Commons Beach area in Downtown Tahoe City at dusk for an amazing outdoor movie experience! 

This is a local summer favorite and if it isn’t on your bucket list of summer things to do in Tahoe, you need to add it! 

These type of experience doesn’t happen in every community.  This is your chance to be outside, enjoy our summer evening, watch the Alpenglow cover Lake Tahoe at dusk and then spend a couple of hours watching a movie on the big blow-up screen, with the shore of Lake Tahoe right next to you!  

If you haven’t been to an outdoor movie recently in a park, or in our case, one set on the beach on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, put this event on your summer list of things to do this year!

The fun starts early in our area, with Waterfront Wednesdays.  The beach and lawn area has fun events all day long, starting at 12 noon to 9 p.m. at Commons Beach.

There will be local food, artisans, and then the day will end with a fun night under the stars with a movie on the beach.

All of the Wednesday night Tahoe City movies on the beach begin around dusk (check your phone weather app to find out when dusk is on the night you’ll be going) at Commons Beach in downtown Tahoe City,

All movies are subject to good weather conditions and safety protocols.  Activity starts at dusk (7 p.m. ish)  For more information, click here!

Here are some Suggested Movie Going Tips:

Movie Attendees are encouraged to bring the following:

  • Chairs Only low back chairs are allowed. However, if you bring a high back chair (I get it, not everyone can easily get up and down into a low-backed beach chair these days, I’m one of them) you will have to sit on the side, or in the back of the viewing area.
  • Bring sleeping bags/beach towels (small plastic tarp to put under them) if you’ll be on the ground.  Remember the ground most likely will be damp, so make sure you have the right things to put down on the ground for an enjoyable evening.
  • Bring blankets and jackets (our summer evening and nights will become cool and if a breeze comes up off the lake, things will really cool down fast).
  • The fun is starting at 12 noon with Waterfront Wednesdays, but the if you can only do the movie, things start around 7 p.m.   If you arrive early you can watch them set up the movie screen. You’ll get some people watching time in along with seeing the incredible Alpenglow over Lake Tahoe!
  • Snacks There may be food truck/concession sales, but you are allowed to bring your own snacks.  If you’re on a diet, you can still stay on track and enjoy the movie.  It’s nice if you can support the local vendors, but you have some options.
  • Movies begin at dusk.  (Check your weather app on your phone for the time dusk will begin for the date you are going to attend, as dusk is earlier the later we go into the summer season)
  • Bring a flashlight so you can make sure you’ve packed everything up and have an easy walk back to your car with light when the movie is over.

Come out and enjoy a beautiful summer evening in Tahoe City out underneath the stars and watch a free movie on the beaches of Lake Tahoe this year!

BluesDays Tuesdays Olympic Valley - 2024It’s back!  The BluesDays Tuesdays Jazz events at the Village at Palisades Tahoe in Olympic Valley has returned for another season of music enjoyment!

If you’ll be in the greater North Lake Tahoe – Truckee, California area this summer on a Tuesday evening, check out one of the free outdoor live music concerts in the center of the Village at Palisades Tahoe in Olympic Valley, CA!

If you haven’t been to one of the BluesDays Tuesdays’ free live jazz/music concerts in Olympic Valley, you need to put this on your summer fun to-do list.

The BluesDays music concert series is held on Tuesday evenings beginning on June 24, 2025 through Tuesday, August 26, 2025,

The 2025 FREE summer Jazz concerts are held in the center of the Village and begin around 6 p.m. and last until around 8:30 p.m.

You’ll enjoy an amazing variety of music.  Each week features a different performer/band will showcase their own style. 

The charm of the Village in the summer with our stunning mountains in the background will make for a memorable evening.

These free BluesDays concerts in Olympic Valley are so much fun you’ll look forward to the beginning of each week this summer!

The free BluesDays jazz concerts in Olympic Valley are fun and well attended.

The event starts around 6 p.m.   Concert-goers do arrive early to set up their camping chairs and enjoy the people watching before the events starts.

  • Bring your own Camping Chair, and set up on a first come basis!

All events are free to the public and will be held weather permitting and are also subject to local safety protocols. 

Remember the North Lake Tahoe – Olympic Valley area can be cool in the evenings so dress in layers and bring a jacket, or light blanket along for the event. 

Come out and enjoy a wonderful Tuesday summer evening of great jazz music in the Village at Palisades Tahoe, in Olympic, California!
