The passage of time seems real as the end of our summer season is here! 

Yes, it’s Labor Day weekend, and it’s hard to believe our beautiful, warm summer days have become shorter, and cooler, as we begin the seasonal transition into Fall, followed by another epic winter season of fun!

Once again, the Kings Beach community will celebrate the end of the North Lake Tahoe- Truckee area summer season with a live music concert on the sandy beaches of Lake Tahoe followed by a custom drone light show!

While this is the last live Kings Beach music concert event of the summer 2025 season, the addition of the drone (300 drones) light show is a great way to kick-off the holiday weekend and celebrate what hopefully was a great summer for everyone!

This event will be at the Kings Beach State Recreation Area and the fun begins around 6 p.m. with food, beer, wine, and soda – (no outside alcohol. or pets), available for purchase and the music will start around 6:30 p.m.

Listen, dance, or just relax on the sandy beaches in Kings Beach and then be prepared to see what these drones can do! 

We’ve seen some of the local drone light shows and seeing the action live, and in person is impressive experience!

Event organizers have done a great job in making this year a great one, and this last event on Friday, August 29, 2025 will be a special one for you!

Here are details for this event:

Kings Beach Music on the Beach Lights in the Sky Event – 2025

Where:  Kings Beach State Recreation Area | 8318 North Lake Blvd., Kings Beach, CA 96143

When:  Opens at 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Music begins at 6:30 | Drone show about 9 p.m., but I’d be there before 8:30 p.m. to make sure you have a good spot to see the show.  

  • August 29, 2025  |  Jelly Bread   This last concert of the season will be followed by The Lights in the Sky (drone show).  A community event to celebrate the end of the summer season and the beginning of the Labor Day holiday weekend!
  • The time for this last event will be 6 p.m. to 9p.m . – dress warmly, and bring blankets!

Kings Beach Concert Goer Tips:

  • Only Low Back Chairs.  If you bring a high-backed chair, be prepared to be on the side of the group, and at the back.
  • Bring blankets, sleeping bags, beach mats, and beach towels if you’re going to sit on the beach or grass. 
  • In late August – September, our evenings are cool, so dress warm, or in layers so as the sun sets, you’ll have a jacket to put on to keep you warm!
  • Bring Water.  Even with beverages for sale, you’ll still want to stay hydrated!
  • No dogs are allowed at the Kings Beach State Recreation area, so plan ahead for a doggie sitter at home! 
  • No outside food or beverage (must be 21+ years or older for adult beverages).
  • The fun starts around 6:00 p.m. so come early for a good seat and enjoy some people watching before the concert begins!
  • This is a FREE event and it is appropriate for all ages!
  • All events are subject to weather permitting and safety protocol conditions.

It’s back!  It’s time for the annual Brews, Jazz, and Funk Festival in Olympic Valley, CA!

It’s not too late to make a day trip and come up to the Tahoe area for some summer fun!

Here in the North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area our annual festivals are still going on and they are a great way to enjoy a Saturday!

You’ll find the annual Brews Jazz and Funk Festival an easy way to spend the day in our area.  

What could be better than kicking back, enjoying an ice cold beer, from one of the different beers on tap and listening to some great live jazz music?

Need another reason to check out this fun summer event?  How about the proceeds going to benefit the local Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe!

Yes, this is a dog friendly event (bark-bark), and you and your fur-baby (well-behaved and on a leash of course) can both come to this event and enjoy a fun day in Tahoe together!

This year the event will start at 1 p.m. and go until 8 p.m.  Ticket prices for music are around $35/door and beer tickets are sold separately.  Must be 21+ for beer purchases.

It is hard to believe that it is already August, and friends are talking about children going back-to-school again.

Yes, it is that time of year when our hot summer days won’t last forever, and Fall is right around the corner! 

Our weather couldn’t be better for the annual Lake Tahoe wooden boat show on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe in Homewood, California this weekend!

This year the Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance show will take place in heart of the West Shore of Lake Tahoe at the Obexer’s Marina, located in Homewood, California!

If you want to see some of the finest wooden boats in the world, then this is your event!  Each year the event has a theme.  This year is celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Gar Woods Boats!

If you’re a boat lover, or someone just who loves being here in the greater North Lake Tahoe on a beautiful summer day, then you’ll enjoy checking out these classic beauties at the Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance this weekend.

The main event starts on Friday, August 8, 2025 and runs through Saturday, August 9, 2025.

You’ll have all day (or both days) to look and admire these boats.

Once you have purchased a day pass you also have the option to purchase some fun upgrades, like the additional Wine Village ticket (must be 21+ in age to enjoy this add-on), giving you more things to do and enjoy, along with a place in the shade!

A few show going tips:

  • Heavy Traffic:  Plan ahead for heavy traffic in this area, and along the West Shore of Lake Tahoe. This is a sell-out event, which means a lot of people wanting to be here.
  • Parking:  Be patient as you look for a parking space.  Click here for more information on Parking and Options
  • Shoes:  Wear comfortable shoes as you may find parking spaces several blocks away and you’ll want comfortable shoes for walking to and from the event.
  • Sunshine:  Wear sunscreen, hat, and be prepared to be in the sun with-out shade.
  • Designated Driver:  Drink plenty of water and if you have a Wine Village ticket, pace yourself, and plan to have a designated driver take you home, or pick you up!

July is here and our summer season is one to be enjoyed!

Temperatures are soaring, which makes it the perfect match for a cool drink and more Tahoe fun!

This weekend the 18th Annual Truckee Brew Fest, will happen on Saturday, July 12, 2025!

We have a number of great local fund-raising events here in the greater North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area and the annual Truckee Brew Fest presented by the Truckee Optimist Club at the Truckee Regional Park in Truckee, California this Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. is one you don’t want to miss!

This annual beer tasting event promises to be even better than last year.  This year there will be a number of specialty brews from Northern California and Nevada breweries, live music, brats, food trucks and silent auction!

If you like to sample different local and regional beers, and you enjoy being outside soaking in our beautiful surroundings, while listening to great live music by The Blues Monsters, then this is the event for you!

It’s a wonderful combination of beer tasting, food, and my personal favorite, the thrill of a silent auction!  Shopping and drinking ice cold beer on a hot summer day.  Can you think of a better way to enjoy a Saturday afternoon  in Truckee?

You may not know that the Optimist Club of Truckee is a non-profit group that has several fund-raising events throughout the year.

This is a big fund-raiser event for the Truckee Optimist Club.  In the past, they have donated over $100,000 annually to scholarships, grants, and programs for our local Tahoe youth, so come out and support this organization!

Here are the details of the event:

Truckee Brew Fest – 2025

  • When:  Saturday, July 12, 2025
  • Where:  Truckee Regional Park
    • 10050 Brockway Road, just ½ mile south of downtown Truckee on Highway 267, Truckee, California 
  • Time:  1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Cost:  $55.20 per person in advance (includes processing fee), $60 per person at the door/gate (if any remain), subject to change.  Must be 21+ year of age. 
  • Entry includes all of your tastings during the event!
  • Non-Drinker/ Designated Drivers: $12.51/ticket (includes processing fee)
  • Plan ahead for a safe ride home!

  • Just as a friendly reminder – No Pets Allowed

We’re expecting a lot of sunshine, blue skies, and day time temperatures in the mid-high 80’s so plan ahead on what to wear so you can enjoy the entire afternoon outside!

Other festival goer tips:  wear comfortable shoes, wear your sunscreen, drink plenty of water (in addition to the beer tastings), and don’t forget your sunglasses, and/or a hat.

Designated Driver – Safe Ride Home:  Plan ahead to get to and from the event – safely.  

You know you’re going to have a lot of fun and you’ll be supporting a wonderful local organization, who is focused on raising funds for the local Tahoe youth.

The greater North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area is the place to be for the 4th of July!

It’s one of the biggest holiday weeks of the year here, and we are ready to celebrate!

Looking for a place to see the holiday fireworks?  Get ready as “the Boom is Back”!

The 77th annual Tahoe City Fireworks Show has returned!  Over the past few years we’ve had a drone show instead of the traditional fireworks show, but this year the boom, sizzle, and sparkle are back!

The return of the traditional fireworks show has been a private funding effort and donations are still being collected.  If you see a donation site, or want more information on how to donate, check out this webpage.

As an FYI – If you are looking for information on the 3rd of July in Kings Beach, California (all-day event with Fireworks), that event is no longer being held and they are doing more events over the Labor Day weekend.

We’ve seen both over the years the live fireworks and the drone show.  Both are impressive for different reasons, but thid\s year you’ll see the traditional fireworks show to celebrate America’s 249 birthday!   

An all-day celebration!  You will find local businesses hosting fun activities, or specials through-out the day.

The fireworks show will start at around 9:30 p.m.  Get there early to find your spot to watch the show!

The fireworks are launched from a floating barge on Lake Tahoe so you can watch the show from Commons Beach, a local downtown restaurant, or bring your boat and watch the show while being on Lake Tahoe!

If you are not a fan of larger crowds, and if you can find a spot to see the Tahoe City downtown area, and you’ll still have a good view of the fireworks even if it is from a distance.

You may not know that the Annual Tahoe City Drone Show Event is sponsored by a combination of private and business donations.

If you go, plan head to find a parking space.  Be patience.  This is a packed event, so space will be limited the closer to event starting time.  In response to the challenges of finding a parking spot, shuttle buses will pick-up and return event goers!

New this year – shuttle buses!

4 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. | Olympic Valley Shuttle 

A bus will loop from Olympic Valley to the Tahoe City Transit Center starting at 4 p.m. The last return bus picks up in Tahoe City at 11:30 p.m. 

4 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. | West Shore Shuttle

A bus will loop from the West Shore to the Tahoe City Transit Center starting at 4 p.m. The last return picks up in Tahoe City at 11:30 p.m. 

Pick up locations: 

  • Granlibakken Tahoe | Front entrance to resort*
  • Sunnyside | TART pickup location in front of Sunnyside Lodge on Highway 89* 
  • Homewood | TART pickup location at West Shore Cafe*
  • *No on-site parking available

Northstar & Kings Beach Shuttles

Leave the parking stress behind and hop on the free TART Park and Ride shuttle from 4-11:30 p.m. The last return trip departs Tahoe City at 11:30 p.m. | tahoetruckeetransit.com

Northstar Park & Ride

  • Park at the Castle Peak lot at Northstar and catch a shuttle every 30 minutes to the Tahoe City Transit Center.

Kings Beach pickup 

  • A stop will be available in Kings Beach at the Safeway bus stop. 
  • NO on-site parking is available at the Safeway. This stop is for those walking from local neighborhoods or lodging properties to the pick up at the Safeway bus stop

Don’t forget to bring your folding beach chairs, dress in layers, just in case a cool breeze comes up, and bring a flashlight for after the event!
