The free outdoor movies are presented in the Events Plaza at the Village at Squaw Valley and a new movie is presented each week. All movies begin at 8:30 p.m. (dusk) weather permitting.

Summer Movies in Squaw Valley - 2015 ScheduleMovie goers are encouraged to:

  • Wear warm clothing – sweaters and jackets are highly recommended.
  • Bring a blanket.  Summer evenings are cool in Squaw Valley and Lake Tahoe!
  • Arrive early to get a good seat.  The movie begins at 8:30 p.m. (Dusk)
  • Bring a small flashlight so you can look around your chair after the movie, or in your snack bag during the movie.
  • Food and Beverages will be available for sale from local vendors.

Last year we made an evening out of several free events.  We spent time over at the free Truckee Thursdays event and enjoyed an early dinner, listened to the music on Main Street at the beer garden and did a little shopping in downtown Truckee before we headed over to the free outdoor movie at the Village at Squaw Valley!

Looking for more free outdoor movies on the beach, or lawn?  On Monday nights in Tahoe Vista they have free outdoor movies on the beach this summer.  Tuesday, head over to the West Shore Cafe in Homewood and enjoy a free movie out on their lawn, just feet from the water on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe.  If you missed out on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, don’t forget Wednesday nights at Commons Beach in downtown Tahoe City, where you can enjoy a free movie on the beach all summer long!

With so many fun things to do in Lake Tahoe this summer, you need to plan your vacation now!  Come out and enjoy a wonderful evening underneath the midnight blue sky and bright stars and watch a free movie in Squaw Valley this summer!

Movies on the Lawn, West Shore Cafe, Homewood – 2015 ScheduleNew this year, are movies on the lawn at the West Shore Cafe in Homewood, California.

While the North Shore of Lake Tahoe has had several free different movies locations on the beach, this year, the West Shore Cafe will have their own free summer movies series out on their lawn, just steps from the edge of Lake Tahoe.

This year you’ll have at least four different opportunities during the week to watch a free outdoor movies in the greater North Lake Tahoe area, starting with Monday nights in Tahoe Vista at the Tahoe Vista Recreational Park.  , Tuesday nights at the West Shore Cafe in Homewood, CA, Wednesday night at Commons Beach in Downtown Tahoe City, and Thursday nights at the Village at Squaw Valley!

Summer-time in Lake Tahoe is what our lifestyle is all about and watching a movie outdoors on the beach, or in this case lawn is a fun thing to do! 

Movies on the Lawn, West Shore Cafe, Homewood – 2015 ScheduleIf you’ll be up on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe (Rubicon Bay, Meeks Bay, Tahoma, Homewood, Tahoe City), or any where close to this area, be sure to see at least one summer beach on the lawn, or beach this year.

The West Shore Cafe is taking our outdoor movies to a whole new level with a full bar, wine and beer available for sale, along with some other concessions.  

Doors open at 7 p.m. so bring your blankets, and lawn chairs and get ready for a wonderful evening of entertainment.

The West Shore Cafe movies will begin at dusk so get there early to get a good spot, have a beverage, and snack!

All of the movies are either PG or PG-13.  Here is the 2015 movie schedule presented by the West Shore Cafe in Homewood, CA at 5160 West Lake Blvd., right across from the Homewood Ski Resort:

Here are some of my Outdoor Beach Movie Going Tips.  Movie Attendees are encouraged to bring the following:

  • If you can bring a low back chair, but any type of lawn chair will do.  If you bring a high back chair be considerate and plan to sit on the side, or in the very back of the viewing area.
  • Bring sleeping bags and beach towels if you’ll be on the lawn.  Remember the lawn can and will most likely be damp, so make sure you have the right things to put down on the lawn for an enjoyable evening.
  • Bring blankets and jackets (our summer evening and nights will become cool and if a breeze comes up off the lake things will really cool down fast).
  • Doors open at 7 p.m. and you’ll find the lawn area to the right of the West Shore Cafe building.  Come early for food and a beverage and watch the incredible alpenglow over Lake Tahoe before the movie begins!
  • No out-side food.  There will be a full bar, and snacks available for purchase.
  • Movies begin at dusk.
  • Bring a flashlight so when the movie is over you can make sure you’ve packed everything up and have a nice light to walk back to your car.

Come out and enjoy a beautiful West Lake Tahoe summer evening  at the West Shore Cafe in Homewood with their free movies on the lawn every Tuesday this summer!

Tahoe Vista Summer Movies on the Beach – 2015 ScheduleThis year you’ll have at least three different opportunities during the week to watch a free outdoor movies in the greater North Lake Tahoe area, starting with Monday nights in Tahoe Vista at the Tahoe Vista Recreational Park.  

Watching a movie outdoors takes me back in time.  So instead of a car, and going to the drive-in, it’s taking my beach chair, and blanket, and some snacks and enjoying a great local event.

Yes, this is what small town living is all about, a fun night out under the starts. So get ready to take in at least one free movie outdoors this year, starting with Monday nights in Tahoe Vista, Wednesday nights in Tahoe City at Commons Beach, or Thursday nights at the Village in Squaw Valley, California.

If you’ll be in the greater Kings Beach – Tahoe Vista area make sure to see at least one summer beach movie here this year.

If you haven’t been to a beach-side movie in the North Lake Tahoe area, this is a must do, and Monday night in Tahoe Vista should be on your list of things to do this summer in Lake Tahoe!

The Tahoe Vista movies will begin at dusk on the beach and you’re going to have a lot of fun.

All of the movies are either PG or PG-13.  Here is the 2015 movie schedule presented by the North Tahoe Public Utility District and other local sponsors:

Cost:  Free – Parking $5/car if you don’t have a valid North Tahoe Public Utility District Resident Sticker

The summer movies are free in Tahoe Vista, and they are at the Tahoe Vista Recreation Park, across from National Avenue (stop light), but parking is $5 per car if you don’t have a valid North Tahoe Public Utility District Resident Sticker.  All movies are subject to good weather conditions.  

Here are some of my Outdoor Beach Movie Going Tips.  Movie Attendees are encouraged to bring the following:

  • Only low back chairs. If you bring a high back chair you will have to sit on the side, or in the very back of the viewing area.

Truckee–Tahoe Airport AirFair Show-Festival, Sat, July 11, 2015Today is the Annual Truckee – Tahoe Airport AirFair and Family Festival, Saturday, July 11, 2015.  The event starts at 9 a.m. and will go until 4 p.m., weather permitting.

There will be Air Show Events all day long including planes soaring and swirling in the air, stunt jumpers flying in wing suits, along with kids activities, a food court,  beer garden, and vendor village.  Admission is FREE and so is the parking!

What could be more fun than a day of Tahoe sunshine, watching stunt planes, having an ice cold beverage, and something from the food court?

This is a fun, free event and it’s a great way to enjoy a beautiful summer holiday weekend day up here in the greater Truckee area.

Where:  Truckee Airport

Cost:  FREE

You may not know that this local event supports many youth organizations in the area including Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 1073, KidZone Museum, and the Truckee Optimist Club, all non-profit organizations.  Over the past several years this event has raised almost $100,000, and they hope to raise even more this year.

Art, Wine and Music Festival - Squaw Valley, July 11-12, 2015If you haven’t spent much time in the Lake Tahoe – Truckee area you may not know that our summer season is loaded with festivals, fairs, and fun events.

This weekend is the Annual Art, Wine, and Music Festival at the Village at Squaw Valley this Saturday, July 11, 2015 and Sunday, July 12, 2015.

If you  enjoy looking at arts and crafts, sampling wonderful wines, along with just sitting back and enjoy music outdoors in one of the most beautiful mountain settings around, then this is the event for you.

You’ll have two different days to check this great event out, or be there both days at the Village at Squaw Valley!  This year the event will start at 11 a.m., with wine tasting beginning at 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

New this year is the “Paint Your Own Wine Glass” option.  You may get inspired by all of the wonderful art creations, so this is your chance to create your own special wine glass at the event.  Stop by “The Painted Vine” and create your own one-of-a-kind glass.  The price is $25 a person, children at $20 (mug, or tile), from 12 noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, or Sundsay.

The cost is a $25 donation to the Disabled Sports USA Far West group.  You’ll get a commemorative wine glass and unlimited wine tasting from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day.  What a great way to support a wonderful group and make a fun day out of the donation!

Art, Wine and Music Festival - Squaw Valley, July 11-12, 2015Come see the Squaw Valley Village that will be lined with fine artists, crafts, performers and musicians on two different stages on either Saturday, or Sunday.

Our weather has been hit and miss, with rain showers in the afternoon so be prepared for sunny blue skies, or a cool cloud burst of rain!

Either way, you’ll have a wonderful summer day here in Tahoe with stories to tell your friends for years to come as you enjoy being outside in Squaw Valley sipping wine, shopping, and having a fun day with some of Squaw Valley’s finest shops, restaurants, and musicians that have come in for this special event.
