Paddleboard Yoga on Lake Tahoe This past weekend the annual Wanderlust Festival took place in Squaw Valley.  They were expecting over 20,000 attendees at the four day event of wellness, yoga, spirituality, music, and all of this was done here in beautiful North Lake Tahoe!

The event featured a wide variety of events including live music, meditation, dancing, hiking, rafting, farm-to-table dining, well-known speakers on a variety of topics, yoga, and paddleboard yoga.

Many of you know I try to ride my bike daily on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe.  On any given day, it’s always a breath taking ride of unbelievable beauty, and I look forward to what I may see along the five mile trip.

It’s always fun when I’m surprised and I see something new and this past Sunday was one of those bike rides when I came along this paddleboard yoga class on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe!

It looked like it was a lot of fun, and I was really impressed with their balance, grace, and their ability to stay on top of those paddleboards without falling into Lake Tahoe!

Mourelatos’ Cable Car Ice Cream Parlor – Tahoe Vista, CaliforniaThe other day we were out and after our swim we say the umbrellas and ice cream sign and had to stop.

If you’ve ever been through the Tahoe Vista area here in Lake Tahoe in the summer you’ve seen this small ice cream shop.  While Mourelatos’ Cable Car Ice Cream Parlor is a seasonal business ( open early June through early September) you’ll find it’s worth the trip to the Tahoe Vista area!

Located right across from the Mourelatos Lakeshore Resort at 6834 North Lake Blvd., in Tahoe Vista this small little walk-up ice cream stand will take you back in time to when you were a kid and couldn’t wait to get to the dairy freeze, or local drug store that had those amazing fountain drinks.

The menu, while small, is loaded with all of the items you’d expect to see at an ice cream shop.  They have milk shakes, root beer floats, or have a malt shake.  You can get a single, or double scoop of ice cream on a cone – your choice of a cake cone, sugar cone, or waffle cone, or have a custom sundae.

The Sandy Beach Sundae is one scoop of Kona Chip ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, malt (looks just like sand) and a cherry on top.  It’s an unlikely combination of wonderful flavors that when you’re done licking the bowl you’ll tell yourself you can always diet tomorrow!

Art, Wine and Music Festival - Squaw Valley, July 13 - 14, 2013 Get ready to have some fun at the annual Art, Wine, and Music Festival at the Village at Squaw Valley this Saturday and Sunday, July 13, 2013 and Sunday, July 14, 2013.  This is a great event to sip some wine, see some great artists, and enjoy a day of music!

You’ll have two different days to check this great event out, or be their both days!  This year the event will start at 11 a.m., with wine tasting beginning at 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The cost is a $25 donation to the Disabled Sports USA Far West group.  You’ll get a commemorative wine glass and unlimited wine tasting.  What a great way to support a wonderful group and make a fun day out of the donation!

Here is a line-up of the music that is scheduled for both days:

Summer in Lake Tahoe – June 2013Summer is in full swing here in Lake Tahoe.  Our day time temperatures are in the low 80’s and in the evenings we’re back down into the 50’s!  It’s the perfect combination beautiful sunny hot summer days and cool summer evenings

Truckee – Tahoe Airport AirFair & Family Festival, Saturday, July 6, 2013Today is the Truckee – Tahoe Airport AirFair and Family Festival, Saturday, July 6, 2013.  The event started at 10 a.m. today and will go until 4 p.m.

There will be events all day long including planes soaring and swirling in the air, stunt jumpers flying in wing suits, Grand Marshal “Bud” Anderson WWII Triple Ace will be there, along with kids activities, a food court,  beer garden, and vendor village.  Admission is free and so is the parking!

What could be more fun than a day of Tahoe sunshine, watching stunt planes, having an ice cold beer, and something from the food court?

This is a fun, free event and it’s a great way to enjoy a beautiful summer holiday weekend day up here in the greater Truckee area.
