Tahoe Donner Fall Festival - Oct 14 2017It’s the 8th Annual Fall Festival in Tahoe Donner!   If you don’t have plans for this weekend, consider driving up to Lake Tahoe and Truckee, California this Saturday, October 14, 2017 and check out this local event!

The leaves are turning color and you know the drive up here in the will be beautiful.

The Tahoe Donner Fall Festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Northwoods Clubhouse.

Admission is free, but depending on what you want to do, the costs will vary depending on the activity, craft, food, or beverage items you may want to purchase.

While Tahoe Donner is a planned master community with some private facilities, this annual Tahoe Donner Fall event is open to the public.

Now is the time to get into the swing of the season with pumpkins, seasonal draft beers, BBQ, or take advantage of one of the fun events.

There is typically something for everyone to enjoy.  Even your four legged fury friends are welcome in Tahoe Donner pool to take a dip.  This is the annual doggie dip (in the pool off-leash, outside of the pool on a leash) as the pool has closed for the season, and this is their chance for a doggie swim before the pool is winterized.

The Tahoe Donner Fall Festival will have arts and crafts vendors so you’ll have fun browsing the booths and checking out the hand-crafted goods and fresh harvest produce.

There will also be a number of activities in addition to the Arts and Crafts Fair, there will be a Beer Garden with seasonal beers, Live Entertainment, Music, Pumpkin Patch, Kid Carnival Area, Games, Contests, and so much more.

  • When:  Saturday, October 14, 2017, Starting at 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Where:  Tahoe Donner Northwoods Clubhouse, 11509 Northwoods Blvd., Tahoe Donner community in Truckee, CA
  • Parking:  Park at the Northwoods Clubhouse, or park at Trout Creek Recreation Center and taking the free shuttle to Northwoods Clubhouse.   Shuttles will run from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Cost:  Free Admission – Costs will vary by event, or food/beverage item,  Must be 21+ for the beer garden.
  • 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Beer Garden and BBQ, Kids carnival, Arts and Crafts Vendors, Doggie Dip Vendors, Bocce Ball Play, and Disc Golf Course open (3 holes)

Tahoe Donner Fall Festival - Oct 14 2017I’ve been to the annual Tahoe Donner Fall Festival in the past and it is a fun combination of carnival and Tahoe activities, Oktoberfest, and some doggie fun, for those that have furry loved ones.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out the Tahoe Donner master planned community, after you’ve had some fall fun, drive the Northwoods Blvd loop and check the area out!

Tahoe Donner is a favorite for second home owners and for year-around living!

New Year’s Eve North Lake Tahoe - Truckee December 31 2016Things to do on New Year’s Eve in North Lake Tahoe – Truckee December 31 2016!

One of the great things about living and being in the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee area is the ability to make last-minute reservations and plans for New Year’s Eve!

While some events will sell out, if you’re still trying to decide how you’ll celebrate December 31, 2016 there are a number of choices, and many of them are FREE events.

You’ll find events and activities that are planned here in North Lake Tahoe area at either Tahoe Donner,  Northstar, or at Squaw Valley.

We been to both the Northstar annual Fire and Ice New Year’s Eve Celebration and the fire works at Squaw Valley and both have great fire works.

Our local free events are fun, and you’ll have a good time.  There is just something about seeing fire works and their beautiful display of color over snow covered ski runs and the mountain that makes a really impressive sight!

New Year’s Eve North Lake Tahoe - Truckee December 31 2016A couple of tips if you’re headed to one of the outdoor events:

  • Dress Warmly – You’ll want to dress warmly and in layers as you’ll be outside and the weather for New Year’s Eve is expected to be in the high teens, possible low 20’s, with snow in the forecast!
  • Be Early, or least On-Time – Early Parking is always a challenge during our peak visit seasons, and during the Christmas – New Year’s holiday period, we’re at capacity, so allow enough time for parking and finding a good spot to watch the show!  Events tend to start on time so be early so you don’t miss anything.
  • Flashlight – Not every place has outdoor lights at night in our area, so just in case bring along a small flashlight that you can use to find your way back to the place you are staying, or your car.

If you want to avoid the crowds and watch the fireworks from your car, find a good spot in the parking lot where you can see the ski resorts.  You’ll have a good view and your own private show.  If you brink lawn chairs you can sit by your car and still have the entire outdoor experience!

Here is the schedule of Free New Year’s Eve events:

New Year’s Eve – Northstar, California Fire and Ice Event 

2 p.m. – 5 p.m.  Live music – Village Stage by the ice rink n the Northstar Village

4:00 p.m. – 4:05 p.m.   Ripperroo Parade for all ages (Ripperroo is the ski and snowboard mascot), beads, noise makers, singing, dancing, you get the idea, and should be a lot of fun for everyone.  The parade will be in the Northstar Village.  Meet at the Kid’s Ski School entrance at 3:45 to be part of the parade.

5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. DJ on the Northstar Village village stage by the ice rink

5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Face Painting in The Village at Northstar

8 p.m. – 9 p.m. Enjoy an evening with live music concert with Jean Genies a David Bowie tribute band.  This live band will play at Village stage by the ice skating rink stage, so get there early to get a good spot to watch the performance, followed by Fireworks over the Northstar Village!

9 p.m.  Fireworks Show at the Northstar Village.  Immediately after the concert!  If you have a view of the Northstar area you’ll be able to see the Fireworks display from a distance.

Squaw Valley, New Year’s Eve

6:30 p.m. Squaw Valley Torchlight Parade – best viewing from the Village at Squaw Valley near the KT Bar

7 p.m. Fireworks at the Village at Squaw Valley – If you have a view of the Squaw Valley Ski Resort you’ll have a view of the fireworks from a distance.

9 p.m. – 2 a.m. New Year’s Eve Party – Squaw Valley Prom (80’s Attire) at the Squaw Valley Olympic Village Lodge 21+ $200/couple, $200/Stag About 1,100 people attended last year’s party, so if you are looking for a larger party in our area this is one to check out.  Music, dancing, fun more info here.

Here is a look at the torchlight parade that has happened in Squaw Valley from a couple of years ago:

Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Resort 

6 p.m. Torchlight Parade and Fireworks – This year there will be a torchlight parade starting at about 6:15 p.m.  If you want to ski in the parade you’ll need to be there starting at around 4:30 p.m.  New this year immediately following there will be a fireworks show, so if you can see the ski mountain you’re going to see the show!

The ski resort is located at 11603 Snowpeak Way, Tahoe Donner, Truckee, CA.

There are many restaurants and bars in the area that will also be having special New Year’s Eve events, but if you’re looking for free entertainment you have plenty of local event options to bring in the new year.

Remember if you drink, don’t drive.  Check out the Tahoe area bus system for their expanded night service for a safe ride home.

Holiday Tree Lighting – Tahoe Donner, Truckee, CA Sat. Nov 29, 2014The Tahoe Donner Association will kick-off the holidays tonight with their annual tree lighting ceremony at The Lodge at Tahoe Donner in Truckee, California tonight!

It’s not too late to join in fun as the holiday activities the Tahoe Donner Association is sponsoring tonight, Saturday, November 29, 2014 beginning at 5 p.m. at The Lodge Restaurant and Pub.

This annual holiday tree lighting event in Tahoe Donner includes reindeer games, Santa’s arts and crafts workshop, hot chocolate, s’mores, letters to Santa, and storytelling by Mrs. Clause.  If that’s not enough, there will also be caroling, a raffle, and photos with Santa.

This year the Tahoe Donner event will also be having an Ugly Sweater Contest (a great reason to get into your closet and find something you don’t always wear out), and parents (21 and older) will have access to the Reindeer Bar (additional fee).

Not only is this a great way to get into the holiday mood, but it is also an opportunity to give back to the Tahoe community by bringing canned food items for Project MANA.

Our temperatures this evening will be down in the 30’s so be sure to dress warmly, as part of the event will be held outside!

Tahoe Donner Light Up The Night, Lodge Restaurant, November 30, 2013 Tahoe Donner is ready to get the holidays started with their Light Up The Night Event this Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Lodge restaurant and Pub in Tahoe Donner from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Light Up The Night holiday event in Tahoe Donner is for the whole family and it’s free.  There will be Reindeer Games, S’mores (one of my favorite winter treats), Hot Chocolate, Santa’s Arts and Crafts Workshop, Photos with Santa, Letters to Santa, Caroling, and the 8th Annual Tahoe Donner annual Holiday Tree Lighting event!

While you’re at the Tahoe Donner Light Up The Night holiday event, everyone is encouraged to bring a canned item for donation to the Project MANA food drive.  This is a great way to have a fun holiday evening but to also help those that need a little extra help out this holiday season.  They will also be having a raffle and you’ll be able to buy tickets to win some great prizes, with those proceeds also going to Project MANA.

This annual holiday tradition at The Lodge Restaurant & Pub in Tahoe Donner is open to the public.  Here are the holiday event details:
