Tahoe City Food and Wine Classic – 2025

May 22, 2025 By Laura Allen, Broker Associate, Tahoe Real Estate Agent, CA RE 01473598 | 530-414-1260

Tahoe City Food and Wine Classic – 2025

The Summer season is right around the corner and it starts with the 18th Annual Tahoe City Food and Wine Classic – 2025!

You may have know this event as the “Annual Tahoe City Wine Walk”, but was updated a few years ago to be called the “Tahoe City Food and Wine Classic”.

This year, the wine and food tasting event will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, between 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Tahoe City, California.

This is a great way to start your summer fun here in the greater North Lake Tahoe area, or to just have a get-away weekend here in our beautiful area!

This event continues to grow, and has historically been a sell-out event, so don’t wait to get your tickets!!!

If you enjoy shopping, wine tasting, snacking on delicious food bites, while being outside in beautiful downtown Tahoe City, then this is the perfect event for you to attend!

I have found that getting a group of close friends together to enjoy this event is a great way to catch-up, while enjoying a variety of wines, and disclovering new tasty food bites provided by North Lake Tahoe’s faborite restaurants and caterers!

You don’t have to be a “Foodie” or a “Shopper” to enjoy sampling fine beverages, along with ducking into our local shops.

You’ll want to take advantage of this years’ event specials, sip, sample, and learn more about being in downtown Tahoe City, California by getting your tickets early.

Last year over 800+ Tahoe City Wine Walkers enjoyed this great event!

I can tell you from personal experience the Tahoe City Food and Wine Classic is a lot of fun to go to this event.

Each year the offering are different.  You never know what the downtown Tahoe City area will have you sample until you spend an afternoon walking from one end to the other.

The annual food and wine event is a fun event to remind you why we love living here in the North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area and what our local downtown area has to offer!

Here are my Tahoe City Food and Wine Classic participant tips from past years that will help you really enjoy the event:

1)     Comfortable Shoes –  Only wear comfortable walking shoes! By the time the day is over you will easily have walked between 1 -2 miles if you hit every station.

2)     Designated Driver – Plan ahead and have a designated driver, or just call a cab to start your trip off right. Other options:  Uber, The bus TART (Tahoe Area Rapid Transit), a friend, or walking to and from your home if you live nearby.  No bikes.  Riding a bike while intoxicated can be just as dangerous as driving a car, and you can be ticketed for it.

3)     Wear Layers & Sunscreen -.  The weather may be sunny, clear skies, or cloudy, rain, and/snow.  You never know in early June, so I recommend dressing in layers and be prepared for Tahoe weather!  You’ll be outside for 3+ hours, so check the weather forecast and give yourself options!

4)     Hydrate –  Drink plenty of water as you go along the way!  It’s fun to sample the wine, beer, or liquor, but before you know it time will have slipped by, so hydrate as you move from stop to stop.

5)     Pace Yourself –  Pacing is the key to a great Tahoe City Wine Walk event.

Remember you’re doing the Tahoe City Food and Wine Classic (walk) at an elevation of 6,200+ feet above sea level, so pace yourself!  Grab a seat whenever possible, drink plenty of water, don’t get too much sun on yourself, and take it easy.  You’ll want to enjoy Sunday as much as you enjoyed Saturday here in North Lake Tahoe!

Wine Tasting Benefit – Kiwanis | 2025

April 22, 2025 By Laura Allen, Broker Associate, Tahoe Real Estate Agent, CA RE 01473598 | 530-414-1260

Wine Tasting Benefit – Kiwanis | 2025

Our seasons are changing, and you can tell summer is on its way!

In the greater North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area nothing says spring has arrived in our area than the Kiwanis Annual Silent Auction and Wine Tasting Benefit, which is traditionally held on the first Sunday in May!

Following tradition, their annual fund raiser will be held at the Sunnyside Resort on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe, Tahoe City, California on Sunday, May 4, 2025!

This is the 33rd Annual North Lake Tahoe Kiwanis Community Benefit Auction and Wine Tasting spring fund raising event, and it’s one of our early events to kick off the next season of outdoor activities and fun!

This is a sell-out event, and you are encouraged to get your tickets early.  If you are not sure if you’ll be in our area, you can always wait and see if you can get a ticket at the front door, but why wait?  Even if you get tickets and can’t attend you’ll still be supporting a great cause and organization.

The Kiwanis Club of North Lake Tahoe does a great job in getting a nice variety of goods and services for auction.

Some of the items you may find this year are: trips, golf, and dinning packages, home maintenance, clothing, jewelry, accessories, art, wine, and many other great items to bid on.

This year the estimated value of items that will be available for auction is over $50,000 this year!

If you enjoy the thrill of finding a deal, then this is your kind of event with the live and silent auctions making for a fun and exciting event!

In the past the Kiwanis Club of North Lake Tahoe has provided support to a wide variety of local group.

All proceeds go to benefit a wide range of local Tahoe community programs.

The Boys and Girls Club; North Tahoe High and Middle school sports and music programs; Excellence in Education Foundation; Arts for the Schools; Disabled Sports Far West USA; Food for local families in need; Concerts in the Park at Commons Beach; the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts; Annual four-year higher education scholarships; Big A (after school program); and Parents Night Out (childcare) are some of ways the Kiwanis have helped out locally.

At this years’ event there will be seven renown California wineries, along with local award winning brewery Alibi Ale!  Here is who will be at the event offering their premium wines and beverages:

  • Truchard Vineyards
  • Rodney Strong Vineyards
  • Romeo Vineyards & Cellars
  • ZD Wines
  • Schug Carneros Estate
  • VSG Chateau Potelle
  • Larson Family Winery
  • Alibi Ale Works Lake Tahoe

This is a fun, local event that happens at an amazing setting with beautiful views of Lake Tahoe.

Who doesn’t enjoy tasting wine, sampling hors d’oeurves while being at the Sunnyside Resort Restaurant which closes to the public for this special event.

Can you think of a better way to spend a Sunday than at a wine and auction tasting event?

Annual Truckee Wine Walk – 2024

October 1, 2024 By Laura Allen, Broker Associate, Tahoe Real Estate Agent, CA RE 01473598 | 530-414-1260

Annual Truckee Wine Walk – 2024

This weekend is the Historic Downtown Annual Truckee Wine Walk and Shop- 2024 event, Saturday, October 5, 2024!

The Downtown Truckee Wine Walk and Shop  event has become a favorite way to end our amazing Noth Lake Tahoe – Truckee area summer season!

If you were lucky enough to attend the Tahoe City Wine Walk back in June 2024, attending the Truckee Wine Walk and Shop event during the first weekend in October is a great way to end the season!

This annual event brings in over 1,000 participants to sip, sample, and enjoy a day of being in downtown Historic Truckee.

Attendees should dress in layers and be prepared to be warm in the sunshine, but it also means that you’ll want a light jacket, or sweater for the shade, or if the wind picks up.  The weather forecast is for warm temperatures and blue sky!

Those that go will enjoy being in historic Downtown Truckee  and they will get the chance to sample some great wines, food from local restaurants and caterers, along with a wonderful day of shopping!

This is the 21st year anniversary of the Truckee Wine Walk and Shop event, adding to over two decades of local fun!

Attendees will receive a commemorative wine glass to sample wine at more than 30+ tasting locations, and a program with a map to all participating venues in the downtown Truckee area.

Non-drinkers are welcome too, and you should ask about their designated driver program.

Here are some of the event details:

Downtown Truckee Annual Wine Walk

  • When: Saturday, October 5, 2024, Starting at 12 Noon to 4 p.m.
  • Where: Downtown Commercial Row in Truckee, California
  • Check in: Parking lot just west of the Truckee Train Station Depot – check in begins at 11 a.m.
  • Cost: Ticket price PURCHASE IN ADVANCE, on-line, $70, or at the door $85 (ticket sales will be next to the Downtown Truckee Train Depot.  Must be paid in CASH on day of event.  www.TruckeeWineWalk.com. Must be 21+ Years of age for wine sampling.  Don’t forget to bring your ID!
  • Designated Driver Tickets are also available.

Transportation: A day of wine sampling can be a lot of fun, but don’t forget to be safe and make sure you have a designated driver, or have arranged for a ride home.

You’ll find a number of safe, free rides to and from the Truckee event on the event website.

So here are few of my wine walking tips to make the most of your day at the Downtown Truckee Wine Walk:

  • Dress in layers, and wear comfortable shoes.
  • Eat a good breakfast, and bring along a bottle of water.
  • Pace yourself. Sip, don’t guzzle. You’ll have four hours of drinking, eating, and walking ahead of you at an elevation of 6,200+ feet above sea level, so it can take a toll on your body.
  • It’s okay to stop for meal if you aren’t finding enough to eat with your food tickets.  I am a vegetarian and my sampling options are often limited (that’s my problem, not the events’ so plan ahead).
  • If you are in a group, and they won’t slow down for a sit-down meal, call and place a to-go order at one of the local restaurants that are open for lunch.

Trust me on this one, your friends will be impressed on how well organized you are, and they will wonder why they also didn’t place a food order to go too!

It’s a win-win for everyone.  You’ll have something extra to eat, and won’t lose any wine tasting time in the process!

  • Enjoy the moment and experience.
  • Most event goers do the wine walk with friends, so this is a time to celebrate the changing of seasons, and a time to just be together.  Be silly, have fun, find something outrageous to buy, and take selfies!
  • Make memories!

It’s hard to believe that October is here and that our holidays and winter season is almost here, so enjoy the end of the season by being at the Truckee Wine Walk and Shop!

Make plans to go to the Annual Truckee Wine, Walk and Shop event in Downtown Historic Truckee, CA Saturday, October 5, 2024!

This is a great way to start your summer fun here in the greater North Lake Tahoe area and all you have to do is purchase your tickets now!

This event continues to grow, and has historically been a sell-out event!  Feeling like a VIP?  Then you’ll want to get the VIP tickets before they are gone, which gets you into the event for your own private hour of tastings with other VIPs starting at 12 noon!

If you enjoy wine tasting, delicious food, live music, along with stunning views of Lake Tahoe, this is the perfect event for you to attend!

You don’t have to be a “Foodie” or a “Wine Expert” to enjoy sampling fine beverages.  You just have to be open to having a good time, and enjoy sampling wine!

You never know when you’ll try something new, something you’d never put in your shopping cart, only to fall in love with a new favorite wine, or small bite!

This annual wine tasting event is a fund raiser for the local Boys and Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe.  This organization provides local youth a safe environment for recreational activities.  They also offer educational programs, mentorship opportunities, and they make a difference in their young lives.

What a great way to support a local organization, while enjoying an afternoon of food and wine in the North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area!

Here are some of my wine tasting tips that will help you really enjoy the event:

1)     Comfortable Shoes –  It is tempting to wear something fashionable, but you’ll be standing for 3-4 hours, so wear comfortable shoes!

You’ll be inside and/or outside for 3-4 hours, so check the weather forecast and give yourself options!

4)     Hydrate –  Drink plenty of water as you go along the way from station It’s fun to sample the wine, but before you know it time will have slipped by, so hydrate as you taste!

5)     Pace Yourself –  Pacing is the key to a great wine tasting event.

Remember you’re doing the Wine on the Water event at an elevation of 6,200+ feet above sea level, so pace yourself!  Grab a seat whenever possible, drink plenty of water, don’t get too much sun on yourself, and take it easy.  You’ll want to enjoy Sunday as much as you enjoyed Saturday here in North Lake Tahoe!
