The greater North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area is the place to be for the 4th of July!

It’s a holiday week here, and as the temperatures go up, so does the fun in our area!

Looking for a place to see the holiday fireworks?  We’ve had some changes here in the greater North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area when it comes to the traditional fireworks  show, and there is a new twist on this old favorite!

The Annual Tahoe City Fireworks Show in downtown Tahoe City on Commons Beach this Thursday, July 4th, 2024 will be a drone show over the lake. 

As an FYI – If you are looking for information on the 3rd of July in Kings Beach, California (all-day event with Fireworks), that event is no longer being held and they are doing more events over the Labor Day weekend.

Our traditional summer Tahoe City ireworks show has been replaced by a Drone Show over Lake Tahoe.  The decision was made to be more environmentally friendly to Lake Tahoe and to replace the traditional fireworks show with a reusable Drone Show event, so it’s time to embrace the technology!

We’ve seen both live fireworks and the drone show.  Both are impressive for different reasons.  If you check out the drone show you will be impressed by the technology, and it will be a memory to hold onto as time moves forward!

The 4th of July Tahoe City festivities will have the same format as the past traditional fireworks program, just a differnt way to light up the sky.   

An all-day celebration!  Here is the line-up of activities for the downtown Tahoe City Commons Beach 4th of July Celebration:  

  • 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.  Farmers Market
  • Food Trucks All Day
  • 12-2pm: Lazar
  • 1 p.m. -4 p.m. Face Painting and Temporary Tattoos
  • 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Disco Terrorist
  • 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.  Bubble Show and Hula Hoops
  • 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Funksalot
  • 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.  Face Painting
  • 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Zebuel
  • 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. All Good Funk Alliance
  • 9:15 LED Laser and Glow Show 
  • 9:30 p.m.  Tahoe City Drone Show
  • 9:45 p.m. Closing DJ and Announcements
  • 10 p.m.  4th of July Celebrations Conclude

There will be people watching and activities happening all day long on Commons Beach for those that want to make a full day and evening out on the Tahoe City beaches of Lake Tahoe.

The drone show, which is eco-friendly will feature 300 drones this year, and it will be the largest done show ever done in Lake Tahoe. 

The drone show will start at around 9:30 p.m.  There will be food and beverage vendors on site, along with merchandise to celebrate the day at Commons Beach in Downtown Tahoe City, California!

The drone show will take place over Lake Tahoe and you can watch the show from Commons Beach, a local downtown restaurant, or bring your boat (Tahoe Gal) and watch the show while being on Lake Tahoe!

If you are not a fan of larger crowds, and if you can find a spot to see the Tahoe City downtown area, and you’ll still have a good view of the drone show, even if it is from a distance.

You may not know that the Annual Tahoe City Drone Show Event is sponsored by a combination of private and business donations.

Tahoe City 4th of July Drone Show 2024: The laser and glow show start at 9:15 p.m. with the drone show starting at 9:30 p.m.!

If you go, plan head to find a parking space.  Be patience.  This is a packed event, so space will be limited the closer to event starting time.

Don’t forget to bring your folding beach chairs, dress in layers, just in case a cool breeze comes up, and bring a flashlight for after the event!
