Memorial Day 2016 - Tahoe City CAMemorial Day 2016 – Tahoe City, CA.  Today is Memorial Day, May 30, 2016.

As our holiday weekend comes to a close, I can’t help but think about how fortunate I am to live in a country where anything is possible.

It is also a day to remember the cost at which that freedom is protected.

Today is the day to remember those that have served to protect us and way of life.

While Memorial Day comes but once a year, the truth is, every day should be Memorial Day.  We should take every opportunity to remember, honor, and respect all those that have served and have given their lives to protect us.

It is also a day to say “Thank You” to all those that are currently serving.  It starts at your front door. Those that respond to your 911 call, and put their lives and health in harm’s way to help and protect you.

Our armed forces and local law enforcement services show up every day and by doing so protect our freedom, and ability to work, live, and play in a country that has almost no restrictions on us.

I love living in Tahoe City and I love living in America.   Monday, May 30, 2016 is a day to count your blessings and to remember those that have made this life possible for us.

I want to say “Thank You” to all those that have served, are serving, or plan to serve.

To the men and women who serve and protect our local communities, our states, and our country, I say “Thank You” for keeping us safe.  “Thank You” for being there .  “Thank You” for your sacrifice and service.

To those families that have lost a loved one.  Your family has paid the ultimate price for the freedom and safety we all enjoy.  While we have never met, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

So on this Memorial Day, take one last moment and remember those that are no longer with us.  Say “Thank You” to those that serve to protect us, and be thankful for the job they do each and every day.

Amgen Tour of California Women’s Race – Stage 1 Lake Tahoe May 2016Calling all bike riding fans the Amgen Tour of California Women’s Race – Stage 1 Lake Tahoe May 2016 will happen on Thursday, May 19, 2016.

I was lucky enough to watch the first Stage of the Amgen Tour of California Women’s Race on the West Shore of Tahoe City here in Lake Tahoe last year and it was amazing!

I was just down the road from the 50km mark in the Tahoe Park neighborhood which is known for having the Sunnyside Resort, FireSign Café and the new West Shore Market businesses.

These are world-class athletes, and watching them ride by was more than just impressive, it was inspiring.

I can see why the crowds turn out for the Tour de France event each year and line the streets for just a peek at the cyclists as they zoom past you, because they really do zoom past you.  You just can’t imagine just how fast these women were moving today until you are standing there and watch them race by.

Here’s a video of Stage I of the Amgen Tour of California Women’s Race on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe from last year which was taken about 2.5 mile south of Downtown Tahoe City just about at the half-way mark of this first leg in their four stage race.

If you love to bike, and want to see women who are at their peak, then be here in Lake Tahoe tomorrow, where you’ll get a chance to see Stage 1 of the Women’s race of the Amgen Tour of California

This year there are eighteen (18) women teams, and each has their own unique racing jacket/shirt.  To learn more about each team and the Amgen Tour of California Women’s Race – Stage 1 Lake Tahoe May 2016 check out their website.

The Amgen Tour of California Women’s Race will begin tomorrow starting at Heavenly in South Lake Tahoe.  The race route will cover seventy-four (74) miles racing around the perimeter of Lake Tahoe riding in both California and in Nevada and they will end up where they started, back at the base of the Heavenly ski resort in South Lake Tahoe.

The race route for Stage 1 is as follows:

All race times are approximate, so be early so you don’t miss out see any of the women race by!

STAGE 1 – Friday, May 8, 2015 – Heavenly Mountain Ski Resort – South Lake Tahoe, California

Start Time:  11:00 a.m.

Elevation Change:  5,300 feet (remember they are starting at over 6,200+ feet in elevation above sea level)

It will be very easy for you to view the race if you stand/sit along any where along CA Hwy 89 South, CA HWY 28, NV Hwy 28, or NV Hwy 50.

The Race Festival will be at the Heavenly Resort and will start at 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. where the racers will star and finish Stage 1.

Lake Tahoe is known for its amazing winter sports and our Olympic athletes, but we are also known for our beautiful Lake Tahoe, and our great boating and lake activities.  Hopefully the Amgen race will remind everyone what a great place Lake Tahoe is to ride your bike, whether you are a professional like these Amgen women racers, or an amateur like myself who just enjoys being out on our local paved bike paths!

What is my home worth in Chamberlands?

The Chambers Landing area has been around since the late 1800’s as a popular summer resort area for Northern California and Northern Nevada.

Just as in the 1800’s, today, the demand for cabins and mountain homes in the Chambers Landing area, known as the Chamberlands subdivision continue to be strong because of the wonderful private and public beach Lake Tahoe beach areas that are near by, along with access to great hiking, biking trails in the neighborhood on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe.

The Chamberlands (often referred to as the Chambers Landing Area – which is the name of the high-end luxury condos – single family homes are in the subdivisions names Chamberlands, or Chamberlands Addition) neighborhood is part of the Homewood community, which is centrally located on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe between Tahoe City and Tahoma.

The Chamberlands (Chambers Landing Area) neighborhood has nice wide streets and is easy to get to on a year-around basis.  The Chamberlands (Chambers Landing Area) neighborhood is close to Lake Tahoe, but is also very close to the Homewood Ski Resort and the commercial core of Homewood making this a sought after neighborhood for Tahoe home owners!

What is my home worth in Chamberlands?The Chamberland (Chambers Landing Area) neighborhood also has two (2) optional home owners recreational associations (club).

The first home owners association (optional), is the Chamberland Beach and Mountain Club, which provides members with access to the private beach area, along with use of the Chambers Landing seasonal shuttle bus to the beach and annual snow removal for your property driveway, just to name a few member benefits.

The second membership that is available can only be joined if the home owner already has the Chamberland Beach and Mountain Club.  This second recreational membership is it commonly referred to as the “Full Chambers Landing Membership” and is officially known as the “Chambers Landing Recreational Association” membership.  This second membership gives home owners access to the lakeside pool and tennis courts.

What is my home worth in Chamberlands?When it comes time to sell some homes in the Chamberlands subdivision don’t have either membership, but anyone can always join the Chamberland Beach and Mountain Club with a buy-in of approximately $2,000 if your property is located in either the Chamberlands, or Chamberlands Addition(s).  Some agents may refer to this as a transfer fee, but all new property owners must pay this initial fee to joint the Beach and Mountain Club.

Some homes in the Chamberlands subdivision will also offer the “Full Chambers Landing Membership” which means that property comes with both memberships.

If a property does not come with the “Full Membership” a property owner in the Chamberlands subdivision(s) can still get a full membership as long as they have already a member of the  Chamberland Beach and Mountain Club, and there are still new membership available for sale (as of this post, new memberships were still available – home owners that want a membership always need to check on availability).  Once they are in good standing with the Mountain and Beach Club they can buy a “Full Chambers Landing Pool and Tennis Membership”.

In 2016 the cost for the “Full Chambers Landing Pool and Tennis Club membership” was approximately $50,000+, so those properties that transfer both memberships, will find they have an immediate value-added feature of around $50k that come with the property.  There is a market demand for homes with the full Chambers Landing HOA membership.  Having the membership will influence selling marketing times, and property value.

Either way, get ready to have some fun at the Spring Fiesta in Tahoe City, California.

It’s that time of year when our ski season is almost over (yes, Squaw Valley will be open until Memorial Day Weekend this year), and we’ve begun that transition to the next season. Almost everyone is now getting ready for the summer season which is right around the corner here in Lake Tahoe.

If you’ll be up in the greater Tahoe City area on Saturday, May 7, 2016, be sure to take some time to check out the first ever Spring Fiesta, a spring event here in Tahoe City, California.

This year the Tahoe City Spring Fiesta event will take place at the Rideout Community Center on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe in the Timberland neighborhood from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.  This is a great, local family fun, Tahoe City community event that will be fun for all ages.

There will be the All You Can East Tacos, music, games, pinatas, and more.  If you are over the age of 21, the Tahoe City Rotary Club will be serving beer and margaritas.

If you have missed some of the other fun winter events in North Lake Tahoe  this is your chance to get back up to our area and enjoy some  Tahoe City fun.
