As another year comes to an end, and I reflect on those that have helped me throughout this year and in years past, I’d like to say Thank You!

I couldn’t have has such a great year with out the support, time, and consideration from you. You know who you are, and I want you to know what you have done for me is greatly appreciated, and never taken for granted!

Surfing on Lake Tahoe – Agate Bay, Carnelian Bay, CA Dec. 11, 2014

If you don’t think you can surf on Lake Tahoe, think again! The big winter storm that is hitting the State of California brought in strong winds into the Tahoe basin that created large waves on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe today!

On my way headed over to Northstar and Martis Camp today to see a few of the new homes listed for sale, I found myself driving over there on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe and I could see that the surf was really up.

By the time I reached Agate Bay, which is a neighborhood in Carnelian Bay, California, there was a group of surfers taking advantage of the storm and riding the waves. Wearing full wet suits, while it still had to be cold, it looked like they were having a great time.

The last time that I saw waves this big, and surfers riding those waves was back on December 1, 2011 down in McKinney Shores in Homewood, California on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe.

These mega winter storm that come with high-wind warnings often bring on the big waves here in Lake Tahoe, so while the rest of us wait the storm out, some, like these lucky surfers, will ride the waves and take advantage of the crazy weather.

If you love to surf, Lake Tahoe will give you a chance to do that here too. For this group of Tahoe surfers, today they surf, and tomorrow they will snow ski!

The next time you’re in Lake Tahoe and it’s a very windy day, head down to the local North Lake Tahoe beaches and chances are you may see someone taking advantage of the big waves and surfing!

Toys for Tots, Sunnyside Resort – Tahoe City, CA, December 2014

Tonight, Tuesday, December 9, 2014 is the Toys for Tots andUnited States Marine Corps Reserve Collection Party at the Sunnyside Resort in Tahoe City, CA from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The Toys for Tots campaign is well underway in the North Lake Tahoe area for the holiday 2014 season.

Each year the goal is to collect as many toys for local Tahoe children in need.

You’ll find toy collection sites through-out the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee area in many local businesses.

You can bring your new, unwrapped toy to one of the Toys for Tots kick-off parties, or you can drop off your new, unwrapped toys at any of the local businesses, just look for the Toys for Tots banners.

The Sunnyside Resort has been one of the collection parties for the Toys for Tots over the past few years, and it’s a great way to enjoy a little holiday cheer, while supporting a great cause. I’ve been to the Sunnyside collection party for Toys for Tots, and I can tell you it always been a lot fun.

If you have little ones, Santa will also be present for photos and handing out candy canes.

Toys for Tots, Sunnyside Resort – Tahoe City, California

Where: Sunnyside Resort, Restaurant & Lodge, 1850 West Lake Blvd., Tahoe City, California. Approximately 2 miles south of the “Y” in Tahoe City on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe.

When: Tuesday, December 9, 2014 – 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Cost: Bring a new, unwrapped toy for children ages newborn to 17 years

Holiday Tree Lighting – Tahoe Donner, Truckee, CA Sat. Nov 29, 2014

The Tahoe Donner Association will kick-off the holidays tonight with their annual tree lighting ceremony at The Lodge at Tahoe Donner in Truckee, California tonight!

It’s not too late to join in fun as the holiday activities the Tahoe Donner Association is sponsoring tonight, Saturday, November 29, 2014 beginning at 5 p.m. at The Lodge Restaurant and Pub.

This annual holiday tree lighting event in Tahoe Donner includes reindeer games, Santa’s arts and crafts workshop, hot chocolate, s’mores, letters to Santa, and storytelling by Mrs. Clause. If that’s not enough, there will also be caroling, a raffle, and photos with Santa.

This year the Tahoe Donner event will also be having an Ugly Sweater Contest (a great reason to get into your closet and find something you don’t always wear out), and parents (21 and older) will have access to the Reindeer Bar (additional fee).

Not only is this a great way to get into the holiday mood, but it is also an opportunity to give back to the Tahoe community by bringing canned food items for Project MANA.

Our temperatures this evening will be down in the 30’s so be sure to dress warmly, as part of the event will be held outside!

The Resort at Squaw Creek in Olympic Valley will unveil their 10^th Annual Magical Memories Holiday Season with their Grand Tree Lighting Ceremony and Gingerbread Village today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, November 28, 2014.

If you’ll be in the greater Squaw Valley area this weekend, the Grand Tree lighting and Gingerbread Village event promises to be a festive and fun holiday evening with live music, carolers, ice skating performances by local children, and sleigh rides.

No holiday event would be complete without a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus and their merry elves, so be ready to enjoy the magic of the holidays.

While you’re at the Resort at Squaw Creek enjoying the Holiday Tree lighting and Gingerbread Village Event, be sure to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to the Tahoe SAFE Alliance.

You’ll not only be helping out those in need this holiday season, but you’ll also get a complimentary one (1) day valet parking. The Resort at Squaw Creek in Olympic Valley will be accepting new toys until December 22, 2013.
