Carnelian BayAre there condos in Carnelian Bay? has about five miles of Lake Tahoe shoreline in this community.  North Shore Lake Tahoe condo / townhouse buyers often ask me are there condos, or townhouse units in Carnelian Bay, or are there only single family homes in this area?

This is an easy question to answer for my Tahoe condo buyers is yes!

Here is are the condos that are currently for sale in Carnelian Bay:

Yes, there are condos / townhouses in Carnelian Bay, but there is only one condominium development in this community.  That development is Carnelian Woods and it is located right off the downtown area of Carnelian Bay.

Currently there are several units for sale in Carnelian Woods ranging in price from just under $300,000 for a one bedroom unit to $450,000 for a two bedroom unit plus loft.

Carnelian Woods is a townhouse style development, and each unit only shares a wall(s) with the unit next door, no other owners above, or below you.  In these multi-level units, you occupy all of your floors up and down.

Are there condos in Carnelian Bay?Carnelian Woods is very close to the public beaches that are dog friendly in downtown Carnelian Bay, along with being close to the Northstar Ski Resort, or Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley.

Carnelian Woods is one of the larger townhouse developments in the area covering over 70 acres, built in the 1970’s with over 100 units.  Carnelian Woods offers many home owner recreational amenities

Carnelian Woods offers a variety of floor plans with one, two, three, and four bedroom layouts. Almost all of the units have a forest view, but some have a forest view and views of Lake Tahoe.

There are a number of recreational amenities at Carnelian Woods, which includes:

Surfing on Lake Tahoe – Agate Bay, Carnelian Bay, CA Dec. 11, 2014

Surfing on Lake Tahoe - Agate Bay, Carnelian Bay, CA Dec. 11, 2014If you don’t think you can surf on Lake Tahoe, think again!  The big winter storm that is hitting the State of California brought in strong winds into the Tahoe basin that created large waves on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe today!

On my way headed over to Northstar and Martis Camp today to see a few of the new homes listed for sale, I found myself driving over there on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe and I could see that the surf was really up.

By the time I reached Agate Bay, which is a neighborhood in Carnelian Bay, California, there was a group of surfers taking advantage of the storm and riding the waves.  Wearing full wet suits, while it still had to be cold, it looked like they were having a great time.

The last time that I saw waves this big, and surfers riding those waves was back on December 1, 2011 down in McKinney Shores in Homewood, California on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe.

These mega winter storm that come with high-wind warnings often bring on the big waves here in Lake Tahoe, so while the rest of us wait the storm out, some, like these lucky surfers, will ride the waves and take advantage of the crazy weather.

If you love to surf, Lake Tahoe will give you a chance to do that here too.  For this group of Tahoe surfers, today they surf, and tomorrow they will snow ski!

The next time you’re in Lake Tahoe and it’s a very windy day, head down to the local North Lake Tahoe beaches and chances are you may see someone taking advantage of the big waves and surfing!

Fireworks in Lake TahoeIt’s Labor Day weekend and Gar Woods restaurant in Carnelian Bay is going to celebrate the unofficial end of summer and celebrate Labor Day weekend in style and with a big bang!

Don’t miss out on the Labor Day fireworks show over Lake Tahoe on Sunday evening, August 31, 2014 at Gar Woods in Carnelian Bay at 8:15 p.m.!

You may know this local lakefront restaurant for their beautiful lake view dining, or perhaps it’s the Gar Woods world-famous “Wet Woody” drink and now this well-known local business is going to celebrate the last major holiday of the summer with their 2nd Annual fireworks show in Carnelian Bay tonight!

We went last year, and it was one of the best fireworks event in the area and you don’t want to miss this one.  Get there early enough and you’ll find a good spot on the Carnelian Bay public beaches, park along the street, and bring along your lawn chairs and watch the display on the sidewalks, find a place on the Gar Woods pier, or make dinner reservations at Gar Woods at 530-546-3366 and watch the show from the restaurant!

It may seem that our Lake Tahoe summer fun is about to come to an end, but I disagree with that idea. The fall here in Lake Tahoe is one of my favorite times of the year, so get ready to have still have some late summer fun, and that starts with the Gar Wood’s fireworks display on Sunday night!

     When: Sunday, August 31, 2014 – 8:15 p.m.       

     Where:  Gar Wood’s, 5000 North Lake Blvd., Carnelian Bay, CA 96140

Best Watching Areas:  The Public Carnelian Beach Area, Gar Woods Pier, Sidewalks, or make dinner reservations at Gar Woods and watch from the restaurant!

     Cost:  FREE

Fundraiser:  Gar Woods and The Monte Foundation are hosting this event, which will benefit the North Tahoe sports programs.  During the evening the North Lake Tahoe student athletes will be selling items to raise money for the North Tahoe Sports Programs, so while the event is free, dig deep and either buy something for sale, or just make a donation!

This just one more fun thing to do here in North Lake Tahoe this weekend!
