Weekly Winter Firework Shows Squaw Valley Saturdays – 2020

January 4, 2020 By Laura Allen, Broker Associate, Tahoe Real Estate Agent, CA RE 01473598 | 530-414-1260

Weekly Winter Firework Shows Squaw Valley Saturdays – 2020

It’s back!  The winter weekly fireworks show at the Village at Squaw Valley!

If you missed the New Year’s Eve fireworks show at Squaw Valley on Tuesday evening, you’re in luck as the weekly fireworks will be back for a third year!

Every Saturday evening beginning January 4, 2020, through the end of February – February 29, 2020 (what a way to celebrate Leap Year) there will be a free fireworks show at the Village at Squaw Valley.

The show will begin at 6 p.m. (check their website for current times and changes), weather permitting, and you’ll get to see fireworks explode above the Village at Squaw Valley in amazing colors!

I’m a big fan of our local fireworks shows.  Seeing a firework show over our snow-covered mountains is a beautiful way to see our area and should be on your winter to-do list!

The North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area has so many free events through-out our different seasons, and the weekly Saturday evening fireworks show at Squaw Valley is just one more reason to make the North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area your a winter destination!

A couple of tips if you’re headed to one of the outdoor events:

  • Dress Warmly – You’ll want to dress warmly and in layers as you’ll be outside and our evening can be very cold, so be prepared!
  • Be Early – Parking is always a challenge during our peak ski season, so allow extra time for parking.  You’ll also want time to find a good spot to watch the show in the Village!  Events in our area tend to start on time so make sure you leave early enough so you don’t miss out.
  • Flashlight – Always bring along a small flashlight.  Don’t count on your cell phone flashlight.  At the end of the evening, your phone battery life is often low, or even gone (can you say fireworks pictures and video), so carry a real small flashlight.  It will make it easy to find your way back to the place you are staying, or back to your car at night.

If you want to avoid the crowds and watch the fireworks from your car, find a good spot in the parking lot, or anywhere you can see the ski resort and bring your camping chairs.

I do think it is important to be early, as these shows tend to be short.  Be sure you are there at least fifteen minutes before the event starts.

If you’re in the Village one of the best places to view the show is the KT/Plaza Bar at the upper-end (West end) of the Village.

The photos in this post are from New Year’s Eve 12-31-2019 at this location, so you’ll know what type of view you are going to see.

Here is the schedule of Free Weekly Winter Firework Shows Squaw Valley Saturdays – 2019:

  • 6 p.m. Weekly Winter Free Firework Shows at the Village at Squaw Valley   | KT Deck 1960 Squaw Valley Road, Olympic Valley CA 96146
  • Every Saturday, January 4, 2020 – February 29, 2019

There are many restaurants and bars in the Village, so think about making an evening out of being there and make a reservation for after the event.

See you at one of the free weekly Winter Firework shows at Squaw Valley this year!

Oktoberfest Village at Squaw Valley – 2019

September 17, 2019 By Laura Allen, Broker Associate, Tahoe Real Estate Agent, CA RE 01473598 | 530-414-1260

Oktoberfest Village at Squaw Valley – 2019

Oktoberfest Village at Squaw Valley - 2019Fall is here in the greater North Lake Tahoe – Truckee area, which means it’s time for the annual  Oktoberfest event at the Village at Squaw Valley this Saturday, Sept 21, 2019 from 12 noon to 6 p.m.

If you are like me, you are not  ready to say good-bye to summer, so come out and celebrate the changing of our seasons at one of our fun fall  Oktoberfest events!

We have already had our first dusting of new snow here in Tahoe, so let’s enjoy our warm fall days and have some fun at the annual Oktoberfest event at the Village at Squaw Valley this Saturday!

We love this even and it is hard to not enjoy the Village as it turns itself into a mini Bavarian themed event.

There is live music, authentic food (can anyone say bratwurst?), German brews, and fun games for all ages to enjoy!

Admission is free to the event, but the cost for food and beverages will vary depending on your personal selection.

In the past all beer sale proceeds have gone to the High Sierra Lacrosse Foundation, and they will benefit this year too, so you will be having fun, while helping out a great local group!

Oktoberfest Village at Squaw Valley - 2019Need more reasons to go to this fun event?

Let’s talk games!  There will be a keg rolling race, a Brat Toss yes, the ever popular wiener toss is back again, and there is a Stein Holding Competition!

Here is the schedule of games:

  • 1 p.m. Keg Rolling
  • 2:30 p.m. Brat Toss
  • 4 p.m. Stein Holding Competition

I have to admit, my favorite event is the Brat Toss event.  You get one chance to toss your brat onto the top of a keg.

It’s not as easy as it looks, but so much fun to watch contestants try!

The Village at Squaw Valley will be featuring a German theme through-out the Village.  If you love to dance and sing along then you’ll enjoy the live music, where you’ll get a chance to be part of the action.

Feel like dressing up?  You’re encouraged to wear traditional Lederhosen and dirndls, but it’s not required!

To get you in the mood there will be live Bavarian music played featuring Joe Smiell and his 20 piece Bavarian Band.  They are awesome and their music will put a smile on your face!

Festival goers that are 21+ and want to enjoy a great German beers can purchase a mug and two beers for $20 that will come in a commemorative beer glass/mug, and all other beers will be $5 with your glass.

For those younger in age, check out the root beer float station!  Yes, I can tell you from personal experience this is a delicious, sweet treat too!

Craig (my better half in life) has really enjoyed the brats.

For me I love the over-sized pretzels with mustard, along with an ice cold German Beer.

Later in the afternoon we have hit the Root Beer Float version and that was great way to end our festival day.

We’re expecting blue skies and sunshine.

Day time temperatures will only be in the mid-to high 60’s, which means in the sunshine it will be warm and wonderful, but in the shade, it will be cooler,  so wear a jacket and dress in layers.

If you’ll be in the greater Truckee – North Lake Tahoe area this weekend check out this fun fall event.

I know that after I’m done showing properties on Saturday morning, Craig and I, along with Stella our Irish Wolfhound dog will be headed out to Squaw Valley to enjoy our late summer weather and some great German beer.

If you see us, stop us, and say hello!  We’d love to meet you!
