Gourmet Ski Tour Fundraiser, Tahoe City, CA, Sunday, March 10, 2013Get ready for the 12th Annual XC Gourmet Ski Tour this Sunday, in Tahoe City, March 10, 2013.  This is the Tahoe Cross Country Ski Education Association’s (TCCSEA) big annual fund raising event of the season, and it’s a sell-out every year!

It’s the best of both worlds – ski, or snowshoe while sampling great cuisine from some of Tahoe’s finest, local restaurants.  Eat, drink and be merry while you’re on Tahoe snow! It’s a great way to have some fun in the snow while supporting a great local group.

So here are the details:

12th Annual XC Gourmet Ski Tour Fundraiser

The fun begins at 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, March 10, 2013

Tahoe Cross Country Ski Center, 925 Country Club Drive, (The Highlands neighborhood)

Cost:  $35 Adults (12 years and younger free BBQ).  Ticket price includes a ½ day trail pass

3 p.m. – 5 p.m. The fun continues with Margaritas, Live Music and desserts until 5 p.m.

Breakfast with Santa and Craft Bazaar – Tahoe City, CaliforniaReady to kick-off your holidays in Tahoe City?  If you are, check out the Breakfast with Santa and Craft Bazaar on Saturday December 1, 2012 at the Tahoe City Rideout Community Center.

The Rotary Club of Tahoe City and the Tahoe City Parks and Recreation Department are sponsoring this event. Along with the pancake breakfast, there will be other games and activities for the kids. While you’re hanging out with Santa, you’ll also have a chance to start your holiday shopping by checking out the local arts and craft vendors who will be showcasing their work and goods at the annual Craft Bazaar.

If you’re an artist, or crafter and you’re looking for an opportunity to sell your goods this year, consider getting a booth at the Breakfast with Santa and Craft Bazaar.  Booth fees are only $50, and those booth fees go to fund the Tahoe City Parks and Recreation Department’s after school program.

Breakfast with Santa and Craft Bazaar

When:  Saturday, December 1, 2012, Starting at 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Breakfast will be served from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Where:  Rideout Community Center, Timberland, 740 Timberland Lane, Tahoe City, California 96145

Cost:   $3 in Advance, $5 at the Door.  Tickets can be purchased at the Rideout Community Center.

Take part in a small town tradition and have breakfast with Santa and do a little local gift shopping.

An Elegant Affair – Tahoe City, CaliforniaThe holidays are just about to kick-off in Tahoe City, which means it’s time for the 36th Annual Elegant Affair event to happen.

Each year on the Friday evening before Thanksgiving, the North Tahoe Boosters organization puts on a wonderful evening of fine wine tasting, beers sampling, and gourmet appetizers to raise money for the North Tahoe High and Middle School Athletics.

An Elegant Affair is held inside at the Boatworks Mall. I’ve attended this event over the years, and I can tell you it’s a lot of fun.  Between the wine tasting, enjoying an array of interesting appetizers from local restaurants, you’ll enjoy live Jazz music this year by Remmel Wilson, and don’t forget to bring your checkbook because you’re going to find a great silent auction item to bid on.

This year the event organizers will have nineteen (19) local Tahoe-Truckee restaurants and twenty-seven (27) fine wineries and breweries.  If you love wine tasting and are looking for a way to kick-off your holiday season while supporting a good local organizations this is the event for you.

When:  Friday, November 16, 2012, Starting at 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Where:  Boatworks Mall, 760 North Lake Blvd., Tahoe City, California

Cost:  $55 Ticket / $90 per Couple.  This event sells out each year, so get your tickets now.  You can purchase tickets on line at www.NorthTahoeBoosters.org, or at The Store, or at the Boatworks Mall the day of the event beginning at 2 p.m.

It’s that time of year when pumpkins, scare crows, and fall magic surrounds Lake Tahoe.   If you’ll be up in the greater Tahoe City area on Saturday, October 27, 2012, be sure to make plans to be at the Fall Festival Pumpkin Patch event.

This year the Tahoe City Fall Festival Pumpkin Patch event will take place at the Rideout Community Center on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe in the Timberland neighborhood.  This is a great, local community event that will be fun for all ages.

There will be several local community groups with fun activities, along with selling snacks and lunch.  The children will have a great time with carnival games, pony rides, hay rides, jumping in the bounce house, face paint and so much more!

If you missed the Tahoe Donner Fall Festival, or the Oktoberfest at the Cobblestone earlier this month, you still have a chance to enjoy some fall fun here in Tahoe City at the Fall Festival Pumpkin Patch.  Here are the details:

RX Medication Take-Back Day – Tahoe City and Truckee, CA On Saturday, September 29, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. you’ll have the opportunity to drop off unused, unwanted, and/or expired medications at two locations in the Tahoe- Truckee area.  The RX Medication Take-Back Day in Tahoe City and Truckee, CA is a great way to properly dispose of medications.

Most people think that by tossing old, or unwanted medications down the toilet, or in the trash they using the most effective way to get rid of these items and protect their household.

The problem with these methods is they can damage the environment.  Water treatment removes and reduces some types of pharmaceuticals, but it is not a complete removal, and low levels of medications can still be in the water.

Treated water is often used for irrigation and wildlife animals drink this water.  The best thing everyone can do to reduce environmental medication pollution is to take their old, unwanted, and unused medications to one of the take-back locations and have them dispose of it properly.
